Even I heard that insurance guys come over to the svc and check the bike (even take pictures of damaged parts and what all needs to be replaced as proof) and pay the dealer the amount. The remaining money needs to be paid after the bike is repaired and ready to be handed over.

The Insurance looks at it. And they validate it and pay for it. This normally does not take more than 3 working days.Originally posted by dual disc 200 View PostKen da, is the procedure same for bikes also??The procedure u guys have mentioned is for insurance taken from private insurance companies. If u have insurance from nationalized companies like United India, National Insurance etc, u have to get estimate, take it to them, pay up-front, the assessor does his job and then after ur claim is apprpved the company starts its work on ur bike, get the bill, take it to the insurance guys and claim it from them.Originally posted by ken cool View PostFind out from the garage guys. They handle these cases all the time. They would know better. They may act lethargic and say no. But I am pretty sure that this would be same procedure for bikes as well.
I just got my car done up using Insurance. Its insured by United India and I had one hell of a time!
Thank god ur safe mate!! ALL THE BEST. She will be back, dont worry!Democracy is when 2 wolves and a sheep meet to decide who is for dinner. Liberty is when the sheep has a gun.

Here's an extract from Bajaj Allianz...
Claims under Comprehensive policies (Steps to be taken in case of an accident )- Notice of accident should be filed with the insurers.
- If damage is a major one, the accident may be reported before the vehicle is removed from the spot so that the insurers can arrange for spot inspection of damage.
- The vehicle may then be moved to a workshop, preferably to authorized workshop, for estimation of repair charges.
- On receipt of completed claim form and estimate of repairs the insurers will arrange detailed inspection of damage and cost of repairs will be ascertained.
- The insurers will ensure that a person duly licensed drove the vehicle at the time of accident and that the vehicle is the one insured in their books. To that end, they will verify the Registration Certificate and the Driving license of the driver who drove at the time of the accident.
- Upon completion of the above procedure, the repairers will be authorized to carry out repairs. The insurer may undertake to settle the repair bills directly with the garage or reimburse the insured.
- Insurers would like to collect the damaged parts for which replacements have been allowed, as salvage. To ensure that replacements with new parts, have in fact, been effected.

If you take your bike to the repair shop where the insurer company has a tie-up then you can avail a cashless claim..otherwise you have to pay the amount to the mech and you can get the reimbursement from the co.Originally posted by dual disc 200 View PostThat's what i dont know!! It was the procedure followed for my ZMA too.Don't know about the pulsars.Originally posted by v_310 View Post- The service station gave me an estimate
- took the estimate and submitted it at the insurance co.
- assesor came to the service station for inspection. He checked the damage and approved the repairs (this took some calling up, chasing and running around)
- Once the repairs were complete, I paid up what the insurance did not cover. (not sure, 50% covered for plastic parts i think)
Got my bike back in about a week.
and hope you are safe bro.Bloody XL guys.Surely deserve some stick...It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

Thats pretty bad man. Hope you are getting better. I remember meeting you just some 4 weeks ago at CBE and you asking me to checkout your P200. Must say, it was a very well maintained bike. Get it back to shape and get going mate.

Thats really Sad. It hurts to see yourself in trouble for no fault of yours. And BTW 16K looks steep as the damage seems to be mostly cosmetic such as the cowl, headlamp etc. The chassis seems to be bent from the pic you posted...see that its taken care of by the service center. And for your insurance its rite, youve gotta pay first and the insurance co. pays you later atleast thats what i had to do when my bro met with an accident on his ZMA. In my case is was Iffco tokio FYI, hope this helps. Your bike looked chick before the crash...hope to see it in the same condition soon. If i were in your place i would have bashed him until he saw stars. Anyways get well soon the both of you.
