    abhijeet, isn't the voltage rectified and then regulated? Because I thought the output of regulator is DC. Or is it regulated and then rectified.....

    I am intersted in knowing whether apart from rewinding the coils of the alternator (which requires skill) isn't there a simple way of getting additional watts for an add-on drawing 50 watts continuously. What are the options?

      First it is regulated and then fed as AC to h/l and as DC to battery (after rectification).

      A simple way is to save up power somewhere, like say the pilot lamps and tail lights. You can use LEDs there, then the AC side (if that side was running the bulbs) might get 15W extra to spare.

      Which bike do you have and whats your purpose in saving power?

        I do not want to save power but run a device that will consume 50 watts alongwith the existing load of the motorcycle. I feel that if I connect it to the rectifier end then there should be no battery discharging problem but perhaps the battery charging rate will be slowed (which IMO is ok). But if I connect the device to the battery then the battery will surely discharge quickly due to the power consumed by the device.

        • The battery will not drain yes, but the device will not run either. AC side can simply not supply 50W!

              please somebody help me here.. i got pulsar 200 dtsi and its charging is nt working, replaced RR stock but no voltage frm stator coil.. everthng else works fine.. only battery nt getting charged.. right now my financial condition is very very bad.. i cnt afford a new coil.. plz suggest something.. i dnt use yellow wire for headlamps buz those are directly DC powereb by battery.. so yellow wire is cut and kept aside and totally idle.. so is there anyway i cn use it for charging purpose??? please help. i dnt have any other vehicle right now except this
