To get maximum mileage from ANY engine - be it a 200cc Pulsar or a 1000cc superbike, smoothness is the key. I regularly get about 50km/litre from my P200. I believe in smoothness, no sudden gear changes, no sudden braking or acceleration, and regular servicings of the machine ofcourse. Do all this, and you would be amazed by the number that your machine would return you on one litre of unleaded.:)

+1 to that. riding style has a MAJOR impact on the fuel economy.Originally posted by Aryan View PostTopic Moved and Approved.'

and +10000 to Aryan Da's riding style. I have heard of anecdotes of Aryan Da getting way more miles out of a full tank on even the R1 than Ken Da because of the way he rides. smooth and constant speed.
depending on riding style, I also used to get between 35 and 45 kmpl on my bike same route, same traffic conditions.Torque nut in the land of horsepower worshippers.

In addition to all the above points, you should maintain proper air pressure in the tyres of your bike and get it checked regularly.
Once I had extracted 100 km/l from my bike, while normally I can manage 90-95 km/l. It all depends on your riding style. Use the throttle and brakes wisely.

yes aryan is correct. you just have to be gentle with your machine. i ride a apache 150 which is 3 yrs old and has done 29k till now with normal service intervals. with this i get between 60 to 65 because i normally ride below 4k rpm mark and between 40 to 60 kmph. i even stretched it once to 78 kmpl. but that was just once. i still think 6o kmpl is a very good mileage for an apache 150. so keep it steady my friend.
ride safe

But if you're soooo FE conscious, use a 100cc bike and not a 150cc !"The trouble with the rat race is that even if you win, you're still a rat" - Lily Tomlin

Your speed (55) does not indicate everything. What gears are you running most of the time? e.g. 55 in third gear will not give good mileage. I get 45-50 kmpl regularly on my ZMA-R (70% highway).Originally posted by thehbkhim View PostThanks to all of you. I hv just bought Pulsar 180 and got just 30 KMPL mileage on first 80 Kms. Speed was never exceeded 55. Is it normal?
This is what I do on the machine.
1. Make sure bike is services properly (including changing engine oil)
2. Make sure wheels are spinning freely
3. Regularly lube my chain (ill maintained chain can cause resistance)
4. Check tyre pressure
5. Use stock tyres (90/100 F/R)
As for riding
1. No sudden acceleration. Twist the throttle very gently. I'm often the last off the green lights
. Anyway I'm rearly in a hurry.
2. Keep below 4k on any gear (shift as quickly as possible). I often shift gears at 3 k.
3. Anticipate signals. If I see red light far off (especially in express highways). I slow down. By the time I near the signal, it turns to green, and I continue on in 5th gear often. If you know certain signals have long waiting period, shut engine.

So kaynmantis sir just tell me following things:Originally posted by kaynmantis View PostYour speed (55) does not indicate everything. What gears are you running most of the time? e.g. 55 in third gear will not give good mileage. I get 45-50 kmpl regularly on my ZMA-R (70% highway).

1 What should be Gear and Speed Ratio?
2 How to apply Brake in fast speed?
3 How to apply sudden brakes without loosing balance?
4 How to do cornering?
5 How to drive in Slow/Jam Traffic?
How to maintain lowest rpm in any gear?
and lastly, what a indicator indicates in RPM meter in pulsar 180. What if it glow and what if it doesnt glow."When the god is on your side, then who else is on the other side"

Even I heard one of our mods from Shillong
extracted an unbelievable mileage from a 1000cc sportsbike.

Do you start your Platina or just push it?

From variable Bhps to a constant 17.6 Bhp.

ROTFL. Good idea! And the money we save with that mileage will require some years to cross the money we spend extra on buying ZMR instead of a 150cc!!

Is it Pulsar UG4? Anyways 30Kmpl is too low, expect a mileage of at least 38 to 42.Originally posted by thehbkhim View PostThanks to all of you. I hv just bought Pulsar 180 and got just 30 KMPL mileage on first 80 Kms. Speed was never exceeded 55. Is it normal?
If all the above points are Ok, then the carburetor is not properly tuned. Go to SVC, but do make sure Air Fuel Ratio is set to balanced and not too LEAN, as it generally happens when you ask SVC people for low mileage.Been There, Done That; Better!
