The posers here in hyderabad call it dog horn. I've seen many posers on rx-100 with those horns, riding crazily through the traffic.

In Rajkot, Gujarat, we call 'em....

In Rajkot, Gujarat, we used to call them "Look-at-me-I-am-A-hole-horns" or "Anti-romeo-squad-should-lock-me-up-horns"!
          When in doubt...... Gas it!

Well in actual case horns must be used, but depending on the driving conditions. For eg i have a 2 horn set up in my my zen.
1-a normal single tone horn that came with the car-i prefer it to use in city riding.
2-I have a hella redgrill(damn loud,118db to be precise) which i use it in highways only and at very rare cases in town when required.Scares the hell out of the truck drivers.

Places where i avoid using horns are residential areas and hospitals
The most irritating horns are the Chinese ones called "moods"that keep on sounding once pressed and the sound fades away gradually.

I have noted that people with 100cc bikes or scooties mainly uses bigger horns.May be they get too irritated with these gadget less slow machines that they start putting bigger horns to attract crowd or........i dont know, but it is surely meaningless to keep tabbing that button when you are excited or in a hurry.IT IS DANGEROUS................

                      Bike Horn etiquette

It would be a Info. to all bikers to make use of the Horn in an efficient way.
Experts..! Please suggest and share the experience about the Horn Usage and etiquette.
o In my opinion a horn (Bike Horn) is a safety device of the last remedy – “if you have to use it, you're already in a situation that probably could have and should been prevented”.

Live Moment can be seen in Traffic Signal: Blowing out in Traffic signals.

                          Honking in my locality

Though not an expert, but ya; I do follow some mannerisms with my thumb.
KZMR has a decent horn. I never use it near the traffic signal, never scare kids, old people or animals (read pedestrians). But I use it in my residential area.
Before anyone thinks I'm a freak, let me clear the point. There are a couple of blind turns (a 90 degree left & a 90 degree right) with buildings on both sides, so I honk JUST ONCE to say I'm taking a turn. Believe me, I've escaped crashing into an auto, a few rickshaws and people this way.
                          So, use horns -
                          1. On highways
                          2. Honk 2-3 times while overtaking a large vehicle. (Come in the driver's view and 2-3 honks would be enough, merely staying behind and honing is the worst a rider can do!)
                          3. In residential areas, honk once IF NEEDED.

                          My 2 cents.
                          Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
