Guys, we all adjust with something or the other.
Even my P180 UG3 is not the perfect city bike, although it comes quite close with its short wheelbase, light front, good midrange, comfortable position and nice wide bars.

Almost Anything you take on or above 150cc is a compromise as far as heavy city traffic is concerned!
Even P220 with its long wheelbase and heavy weight, is no party machine either, in the rush hour.

The bigger question is - how much are you willing to sacrifice for those fun filled open road rides? Do they mean a lot to you?
If they do, go live your dream & sacrifice a little in the city. If the pain in city isn't worth it, then commuters are cheaper, ain't they?

The 2 Stroke bikes, with a modern chassis and shorter wheelbase (like R15's), could have offered us the best of both worlds, but unfortunately they don't exist in market anymore...

Ahh..i was about to start a thread on this topic.but <indian07_blood> already did the honors.Nevertheless like <indian07_blood> i had my own doubts about the practicality of SBK's in India.Keeping aside the bike being a status symbol and occasional speed spikes for lucky few around GQ and other xpressways, does owning a pure blood SBK practical?

Take for instance the 3 big cities of West India, Mumbai-Pune-Bluru(even though its not technically in west). All of these have worst traffic setup for a SBK.Heck Pune/Bluru is worst for any bike(given the road manners). So how can one justify buying a R1/FBird just for weekend kicks?wont a Ninja/P220 suffice?and even for touring given the fact that most Indian roads resemble moon surfaces with Cows/Buffaloes guarding them wont a <500cc bike make more sense?

Given the cash even i would buy a R1 with my eyes shut but will it do justice to the bike and its awesome Power/Engg'ing? i doubt it...My 2 paise.

        Superbikes

If i would have been financially strong i would have defenitely gone for an R1. the R1 would be only my weekend bike or for long rides or for night rides (never in bumper to bumper traffic).

And i would also have a daily commuting bike. So if you want to you can defenitely go for the Super Bikes.
Ride Hard !!! Ride Safe!!! Enjoy every moment on your machine !!! Cheers....

anyone who can buy a 14L motorcycle should ideally have the space for a commuting motorcycle and the special motorcycle is reserved for special rides, sunday rides etc

in case you want a practical motorcycle(on which you would want to/have to commute), go in for a R1200GS or some other practical motorcycle which would satisfy your needs
where the hell would you park it in your everyday commutes?

i do not think any Super Bike rider in India uses his motorcycle to commute in Indian traffic, that role is for cabs/cars/and Indian motorcycle

Exactly. SBKs are not for daily rides. I know a lot of people ride big bikes to work. They commute on them, but it is a hassle.

You must have a city bike for city rides, rides to work, commutes, etc. An SBK is simply to enjoying biking. Something you'll never get to do in the city.
            You get the point?? :D

I think its a very simple thing - Trouble or not, there ARE many and many superbikes in Delhi today ! And I guess the owners don't really face non-avoidable problems which may lead to the separation of their steeds

Regardless of what anyone thinks about SBK being impractical in city and those stuff. I bet, you give anyone a choice to choose between any Indian 150cc and SBK like R1 or fireblade for free. There is no doubt the very person criticizing SBK will choose SBK. Period. Its the thickness of your wallet that will often define your view.

Who needs a 1000cc? Yeah right!

A very nice thread started by indian07 blood (Shaan).
I at some point agree that SBKs are not used to its full potential here in India. Reason being, we don't have those kind of roads or the perfect word would be "circuits" except few in South. Here in Delhi/NCR Noida Expressway and the Gurgaon Toll Road always witness SBKs revving to the utmost level.
Citing an example, while I was working/staying in Gurgaon, a friend of mine brought a 600RR from his known ones. I drove it (first time for me). I was close to 120-130kmph when a thought crossed my mind that this highway is not a drag circuit, I should control my wrist
Yes I agree that SBKs are used for weekend rides.
For daily rides, its not really possible. I mean if if you don't want to use Burnol everyday on your legs, or its sure people would think it as their own property in the parking bays.

Another example, jd666 was with us on Gajraula ride on his ninja and he was riding it from Gurgaon to Gajraula overall more than 150kms

If any day I would be going to get my SBK I am sure I would be using it only on weekends.

I usualy max out the bikes abilities before my abilities... ofcourse the people who dont would always say that SBKs are a overkill while the people like me would be left craving for more.

Quite true!! At the end of the day, if people dont realize that the expressway is not ur backyard circuit, ur gonna get yourself killed. Be it a 600RR, 1000RR or an R15!! In fact its easier to get killed on an R15 that an SBK. With great power always comes great responsibility.
