  • Riding in cross winds.

    Riding in cross winds is also one big challenge. It is hard to ride while the strongs winds are blowing.

    I could come up with the following work-around for them:

    1. Avoid bending/leaning sideways while riding. You never know when the wind main blow strongly and at times it can create a difference in wind pressure in upper (head area) and lower (ground) area causing a fall.

    2. Slow down the speed.

    3. If the wind speed is picking up look for some suitable place and pull over. Wait for the wind to settle down and then move ahead.

    More inputs would be really helpful.
    My thoughts...

      Riding in cross-winds, particularly in an impending Storm ( I'm not suggesting anyone to do this. But sometimes, one can't bother !!! ) is really a challenge.

      The following things are usually what keeps me alive & riding, apart from the great weight & stability of my steed (Bull Std);

      1. Sticking the legs as close to the fuel tank as possible to leave no air gap between them.
      2. Stiffening the handle grip to not let the wheels take you where they want to ( & this is important ).
      3. Cramming or partially bending the body inwards to reduce as much wind pressure or resistance to wind flow as possible.
      4. A bit of more concentration into how your horse is feeling the conditions.

      Usually these are enough to avert damages !!! But it's always preferable to judge your distance with your trouble. If the road ahead is considerably large & wind speed is picking up, it's better to wait a while; like harshit.d said.

        The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
