Right on there..^^... By the number of increasing R15s on road, it seems Rs. 100k isn't much of a deal these days. Even those people have it, whose face say they can't..

I saw one R-15's (with nothing on number plate, i.e. brand new) rear mud-guard cut-off.... Man, it felt like a bird's wings cut-off.. I don't get it, how does it look cool?? And, don't they feel anything while mutilating such a beauty..

Even a single scratch on my Uni bothers me, dunno how they don't get any feelings while slicing the machine.

Ah... that's an emotional side of a biker, I can understand your pain, buddy!

Brother, I hear what you are saying. And you can get more food for thought if, (I surmise you aren't in India right now), if you could ride through this city I am in currently and the number of people, not just on R15s but on any two wheeled vehicle, who ride without a helmet, or in some cases a worn out shell being passed off as an excuse for a helmet.
The number of people with a respectable lid on their heads is abysmally low.

Forget superbikes, or for that matter any technological invention worth its weight in gold thats been introduced here , with people having scant respect for their own lives, the question about the R15 overheating due to the clogging of the air vent seems a tad frivolous. For the sake of these really great motorcycles, I do think that it should not be the case. And I agree people dont deserve to be riding them if they aren't aware of how to treat them. But I can confidently say that not many people who buy the vehicle read the owners manual, and hence end up without the information. Blame it on negligence, insolence, or just plain ol' dumba$$ness, that is the case.

There are other much bigger issues at hand. The fact that our traffic works is a cause of great disbelief for those uninitiated to our country. Everyday, I see people slamming their rear brakes, releasing them scaring lost traction, and then high siding. Hit and runs are the norm, rather than the exception. Infact, people rarely come forward to help someone badly injured, for reasons we all know all too well. But I digress. Our motorcycling ethics and rituals are in a bad shape. People dont know where to turn to! We dont have an MSF, our driving licenses are DTH off the shelf products, and not many people are given to looking up information about road rules and driving/riding. It irks me so much more when I am gaily riding along and I come across bicyclists turning without giving any signal, jaywalkers casually striding through the road as if it were their own backyard, or the myriad of bike/car owners who keep their high beams on as if they are looking for their elusive holy grail.

Frankly, I'd stuff an Eskimo quilt into the R15's vent if it were to take care of half of these problems.

It's a rant. It's one person venting against the things that set his fuse off. Take it with a dozen pinches; nay a 500g pack of iodized salt, if you may.

Why do people sell refrigerators in Iceland? Because it's a free country and people have a right to choose what they want as long as it's legal. Same difference. "Too many splendors" is a non-factor because the others have different priorities and thank god, they seem to have a number of choices other than the 100 cc mosquitos!

(Actually, people buy fridges in Iceland for slightly different reasons, but you get the point, right? )

So you DO agree with my POV. If you read again, I have written a part where I've requested the more enlightened among xbhpians to go and educate any and every dumbass you see on the road with a bike too good/ complex for his pea-brain. That's making a change and it's a positive thing. Are you willing to make that change or are you content on complaining about... well, complaining?

        Read above.

Here you exhibit your total lack of understanding of how the world motorcycle market works. Singapore is a country with strict speed laws and a traffic light every 50 meters. There's hardly any space to rip to rip a step-thru (which are the largest sellers, btw. NOT the superbikes); let alone bigger bikes. It's mostly a style and statement thing here, save for the owners who take them to Malaysia and hit the track. In any case, nowhere in the world are bigger capacity bikes bought for utility. Smaller bikes on the other hand, cater to the A-to-B audience almost exclusively (Save for exotics like the Aprilia RS 125 which are as expensive as bikes 3 times the size).

As for registration and insurance, rightfully so. Motorcycles DO pose higher risks to a person's life than a car and the government is making sure that those who opt for them do it coz they rally want to. You can talk out of passion as much as you want to, but do you really think that the indian govt. turning a blind eye towards entire families traveling on a 2 wheeler with zero safety measures is a great thing?

You speak of all this with a sense of pride. And that saddens me. Well, despite your reservations, lots of middle classers seem to have gotten their hands on R15s. On the contrary, people in India protest way too much about way too many things. I'm sure that if she could, Medha Patkar would have protested against the sun for rising elsewhere before the cradle of civilization that is India.

Are you under the impression that I was born elsewhere and have never been to India? No sir, I was very much a part of the county, learning to ride there and spent quite a few years piloting my humble two wheeler wherever I could. SO yeah, I DO understand the scenario, coz I lived it not too long ago.

Well, you tried and that's the important thing.

Again, nowhere in the world does a bike like the Intruder outsell a car like the Civic. It's quite natural.

        Duly minded, sir!
hehe after all i made the thread interesting

btw, what i meant by low registration fees is that our govt knows there drawback of narrow roads so they easily allow ppl for 2 wheelers you know cheaper and fuel efficient mindset of transport.

I do not disagree with you on education, how many do you think will take it positively.

Learning is just not process of giving but making it equally acceptable, i still feel companies should take a leap in this regard. Atleast yammy could have posted a TV ad for same or one in newspaper may be later giving a free component upgrage.

Perfect Synn u got a new fan !

This summon the scenario in the best possible way really can't help laughing at the state of so called BIKERS. They may have the greenbacks but not the Grey cells.

Synn and SVjHonda i totally agree with u brothers.

And here are few things which left me bewildered and lets see what about u guys:

1.Don't use front disc recommended by so called BIKERS.
2.Paint the air-cooled engine black. ( Who will provide the cooling in summers ? )
3.Broad rear tyre so what if have to bend the chassis a little but i want it.

even bajaj incorporated Anti dive to encourage ppl to use front brakes, in an interview rahul bajaj said, ppl in india do not do it thats why most scooters skid, we are including anti dive and we ask ppl to use both brakes for better braking.

Once I noticed a uni's leg gaurd modified!!! The dude had built a steel box for storage with the leg gaurd as the skeleton. I took a picture of it. will post it when possible. I shiver to even imagine a crash on that bike. Hope he keeps his gaurdian angel happy.

thats the most important thing. providing education and seeking education. the real problem lies in the reluctant nature of people. there are people who just buy a bike and know how to run it. (how well, God knows) thats all.
o.k. tell me, HOW MANY OF US ACTUALLY GO TO DRIVING SCHOOLS TO LEARN DRIVING OR RIDING??? (im not sure if we have two wheeler training school in India!) all we need is a friends or relatives vehicle and a person who knows to ride it
                  even im no exception
look at the license eligibility criteria in developed countries.

its all about how much you love your bike. you'll try and dig out as much info as u can to keep your bike healthy and ride safe. thats what i call BIKING CULTURE.

hehe so true i got my LMV license even when i did not know how to drive a car, i learned it later.

i own a red FZ i pay the cleaner 100 bucks/month just to keep my bike clean and shiny, a guy in my flat has the same red colored FZ, and ever come and look at his bike its already majorily scratched and abused even though he looks like a young bike crazy guy.
