Definition of a Biker

Seriously, I have no idea what a biker is. To the studded leather clad hooligans, everyone is a sissy and not worthy of the bikers tag. To the responsible rider, the hooligans are just that, a bunch of hooligans and an embarrasement. To the damn care hippy who would ride out without a care for destination, others doesn't know the first thing about life as a biker. To those on 1000cc bikes, we perhaps are nothing much more than an amusement.
Me, I dont care what biker means or who a biker is. I maintain my bike well, I don my safety gear and I go where I meant to go.
If someone thinks I'm a biker. Ok. If someone thinks I'm not. Ok. If someone thinks I'm in between. Ok.
I'll still ride my ZMA happily. If I have more money, I'll buy a bigger one.

I agree to each and every word...
It all begins with a thumb-start -- Oh, wait, I forgot the kill-switch

I've Learnt something though i don't remember it now??
@El Loco-
Great stuff dude.i agree on each and every word though the bike also matters a lot though not as much as the rider.
@rennycornelius-
I don't find anything wrong with revving to the red line(The bike should be well maintained).Though i believe that you and the bike should deserve each other only then it might be possible.
Revving to the red line is not only a test for the bike but also for the rider.Hope you understand that someday!!
The bike is an extension of you (& your persona as a biker

amazing post. i juz went back in time n watched my 9 yrs of biking xperience in front of my eyes.Originally posted by rennycornelius View PostThe term “biker” has diff meaning as the people in this whole world….
For some it’s just wringing the throttle…
For some it’s sitting on the saddle and looking at the life through the fairing…
For some it’s packing the backpack and goin for the leh ride…
For some it’s the best deal to get the “feelings” when they take out their girl for a ride…
For some it’s nothing but to get to from point ‘a’ to ‘b’ that’s it……
When I started ‘Biking’ it was all of fun to me….
Not caring of anything, just giving it a full fisted treatment, pulling a wheelie when we used to spot a nice girl through the walk way, doin one hell of a burnout before goin to home when our tuitions used to end, not wearing helmet and feel the rush of the 80kmph speed wind at the hairs, driving rash cutting through the traffic at the third gear when my RTZ used to smoke like hell and making that demonic scream of a two stroke just to grab attention of the people standing at the red light….
That was biking to me when I was 16-18….
When my father bought me fiero, I was in college…
“Biking” was little changed by now….
I no longer found that 80kmph wind in my hairs a ‘rush’…
I realized pulling a wheelie in front of a chick is a dumbest thing I used to do…that too without helmet…
I realized wearing a helmet and driving looks more cool than drivin without it…
I was growing….biking in me was too….
Now when m 23, ‘Biking” is very diff for me now…
It makes me calm sometimes, earlier it always used to give me a mad rush….
When I rev the hell outta my bike I get a feeling that somehow m hurting her…
But before I never had such a feeling…
My bike is more of a buddy to me, who makes sure that if I want to win a traffic light GP, it’ll try it’s best to make me win that..
If I want to break my last leaning angle record, it’ll take the beating with ease…
If I want to pull her right to the red line in each gear.. it’ll happily show me it’s needle at the red sector…
For me “biking” starts and ends with my bike…
Cuz it’s the one who made it all possible…

@ EL LOCO DIABLO and rennycornelius Beautifully expressed guys, thanks for the wonderful writeup.
I guessed I should link this thread to other communities like orkut. Let the rest know who are "Bikers"?
I do agree and believe that a Bike and a Biker are two bodies with one soul mingled together when biking. As EL LOCO DIABLO has written, we come into contacts with different sorts of people where we learn, we teach and we converse, and we come to know of things we never knew. We therefore become more knowledgable, increases our self confidence and at the same time know ourselves better.
Just as Ladies loves shopping and are crazy for shoes, dresses and the rest, there are others who are deeply in love with Machines and gadgets. In the same way, Bikers are madly in love with their Bikes. Seriously, if I was to choose between a Hot Babe and a Hot Motorcycle, I would go for the latter, no doubt.
As rennycornelius had written, our biking grows with age just as our personality and thoughts. This is embodied in rennycornelius's writeup itself. Now, if you ask in general the meaning or an elaboration of "Spirit of Biking" or "Biking as a Lifestyle" from a newbie rider and an experienced rider, you will see and understand the differences between a "Biker" and a "Motorcyclist".
To me, it all started as a mean of transportation, to reach from point 'a' to 'b'. Then, I was only a "Motorcyclist". But as time went and as I met other passionate riders, I gradually realised how changed I am, how passionate I am for my Machine. Its hard to go a day without my bike just like the computer and the internet! It has become a part and parcel of my life-the inside of me that no one can ever take away except physical disability and my death! And now I know I am a "Biker" and not just a "motorcyclist".
Almost anyone can ride a motorcycle/scooter/scooty/moped and almost anyone can be a motorcyclist but not all are "Bikers", not all have the feeling of the true "Spirit of Biking" and not all motorcyclist take "Biking as a Lifestyle".
A Biker may be a Stunner, a Tourer, or a City Rider or a combination of all these. He may be anyone from anywhere. But he should know his machine, he should know its capabilities and limitations. He should never prefer Style or Show-offs more than Responsibilities towards himself and the other motorists and pedestrians. We all want to ride...
not just today or tomorrow...
but even in the years to come...
because "BIKING IS OUR LIFESTYLE".

Cheers!
