Friend's P-220 Stolen
Today morning when I woke up I got a call from my friend asking me to go with him to the police station as his bike got stolen at night, His P-220 was less then 2 months old. We both had installed central locking in bikes at the same time (mine r15). The company of the central locking was minda. His bike had central locking switched on at night + The bike was tide to gate with a thick chain, still the bike got stolen. Can you guys throw some light here, How the central locking and chain could have been removed from the bike, I have really started to worry about my new r15 now
I also have same central locking.

Thanks for approving, This happened in Gautam Nagar, New Delhi (Near AIIMS hospital)Originally posted by ken cool View PostOh boy! Sorry for the loss. I wonder how this happened. Could you tell us about the location?

My friend parked his bike at around 9 pm and tide it with a chain and switched on the central locking, Due to problem of parking we have to park in the side of street. He woke up at 6 and found his bike missing. Are these central locking alarm systems useless? (It even had immobilizer)
P.S The Chain was found lying on the street, Seemed like it was cut using a bolt cutter.Last edited by HotAntivirus; 07-18-2010, 12:40 PM.Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

Call up the central locking fellas who did the installation. Normally with an immobilizer unit, they will not be able to start the bike, unless of course they remove the whole setup completely! I doubt if the bike had been started at the spot. This sounds like it was "lifted" out on a truck. The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

A truck would not be possible in the street as at night time its filled with cars, bikes, scooters. Its hard for even a car to pass by. Unless they lifted the bike manually and carried it over to the next street. Still even if it wasnt started the alarm should have gone off, Which my friend could have easily heard.Originally posted by ken cool View PostCall up the central locking fellas who did the installation. I am surprized at this. If a thief can easily cut Chain.. and fool central locking.. what else one needs to do.. to safeguard vehicle. what else is left.
P.S - Despite being a typical Delhite and having lived in Delhi for more than 22 years.. I dont no.. now I have started hating Delhi. I have been to all Tier 1 cities in India, except Calcutta.
And my personal experience.. Delhi is baddest of all. Despite being the capital city.. the law and order situation is worst amongst all. There cant be a day, when you dont get to hear a Murder/dacoity/rape/theft. This is simply getting worse.
What I see.. people in Delhi misuse damn everything.. Water, money, resourses, power, just everything. And this is on the basis of experiencing lifestyles of people with other tier 1 cities. If there is one place where I would want to settle down..in India.. It just cant be delhi. Why Road Safety campaigns are not impacting people?

Its Overpopulation.
Everyone is Up for criticizing, but no one does anything when it comes to stop it.
If you hate Delhi so much, then why dont you do anything to stop the "wrongdoings" going on?
No offence though.
Sorry for the loss,Aryan Da's P200 was also stolen, but was later recovered by police by sheer luck.
Report the incident to police and go to the shop which sold you the alarm and also to the insurance company.Speak Less,Speak Wise!

gautam nagar has a number of PGs and accomodations for working people and college kids. I was a regular to that area between 2004-2007, Theft was not un-common.
The immobilizer could have been bypassed.
Best option is to park bike indoors like a number of my friend's used to do, and if indoor space is not available, then to park at a friend's place where you can. Try and park between cars and side walls, so the access to the vehicle is limited.
Also keep friendly relations with all shopkeepers etc, since they keep a eye out for vehicles that keep frequenting that area.
Other than all these basic, and not nearly possible suggestions, there isnt much that can be done. Other than a electrified chain or something.

after using the central locking for over 4 years (on my old bike-CBZ Classic) i can surely say that thieves used some F***ing new technology to by-pass
the system. because once its armed (Locked) it doesn't tolerate a slightest touch on the bike. the alarm is motion/impact sensitive. i am still not able to understand how these fellows managed to bypass it. its even impossible to carry it to the next street (as said by HotAntivirus)without triggering the alarm. its highly impossible to disarm it electronically. another possibility is cutting the alarm's loud speaker, but its highly impossible to do it because one have to remove the 220's seat as its fixed under the lockable seat, and without getting the alarm triggered how the hell did the genius lifted the bike? by this incident now its clear that there is no way to protect our bikes.

Even a light touch makes the alarm go off, I've even noticed that sometimes when the dog starts barking near the bike still it goes off(pisses me off a lot) I am guessing the thieves may have opened up the seat very slowly and maybe cut the wire or maybe used something to damage the speaker from outside and then remove the system completlyOriginally posted by frankpilli View Postafter using the central locking for over 4 years (on my old bike-CBZ Classic) i can surely say that thieves used some F***ing new technology to by-pass
