crooked front disk!!

    crooked front disk!!

    hey guys i got my front wheel involved in a small accident months ago... and now i notice my front disk was bent but now it has become kinda worst a hear an annoying noise when i ride the bike and the disk just wobbles all over the place... it touches the pads and now it makes a noise that sounds like metal rubbing on metal.... im running low on my finances this month and probably the next aswell...
    I want to know if there is a possible way i can get my front disk flattened and back in normal shape atleast until i replace it....
    Please also let me know if there is any possible heavy equipment that could be used as i wouldn't like it going close to a hammer by the normal mechs!!

    Even normal mechs would not do it with a hammer. Even normal mechs have evolved with time and technology.

    If it is not too bent, it can be ground on a lathe machine.

      Not adviced at all; they're made in precise engineering & once the precision is lost, no point using them. Its even bad than using front drum brakes.

      This is a call to disaster!!!

      If not the entire unit, atleast get your disc replaced immediately. Don't try any of the juggad work for your own safety. If money is a criterion, then pay using credit card to avail the revolving facility.

      If you still insist on using your motorcycle, ride slow, safe & remain triple cautious. But remember, with any juggad, you'll never get the engineering precision back in place.

        Hydraulic press. Works 100% Done it on a friend's FZ who had an accident and the disc was bent so much that the top speed his bike would go was 60 and when sprinkled some water on the disc after a half kilometre ride, all of it evaproated. Such was the heat generated due to the friction between the disc and the calipers/pads. We removed the wheel removed the disc, took it to a workshop in my town. He has a hydraulic press. Pressed the disc inside it, straightened out perfectly flat. No rubbing anywhere whatsoever!

            Workshops who do machining and other jobs. Some have it. i found a fabrication workshop who had such a press.

              man i love the sound of that... you put a smile on my face "HYDRAULIC PRESS"... everything about ma bike is perfect except for this stupid disk!!! it breaks my heart when i ride it.... when i spray water onto it no sound of rubbing... there used to be a rubber rubbing sound but now its a steel sound and vibrates upto the handle bar. Ill check out on that and let yall know because i was doing some information research on Google and may bikers abroad has blogs of their disks going kaput and the fixing it back!!!
              Will check on it asap just hope it doesnt cost half as much as replacing it ..

              The only problem now is finding someone who has the machine!

                Half? Dude the man operating the press demanded 100 bucks and I tipped him another 50 for taking time out for this/ the FZ front disk costs 8.5grand!

                  This is definitely untrue! The disc plate should cost max 2.5k I think.
                  The R15s disc plate itself costs something like 2k IIRC, & they are both similar.

                  The max I think of is 8.5k for the entire front disc assemly (plate, pads, callipers etc)

                    Oops! My bad! That was the figure the Yamaha Service Centre guy quoted for the bike's repairs.We got everything done in 1k.
