  • suggest route Hyd-Goa

Guys suggest a route from Hyderabad to Goa. Main priority is good condition of roads ready to travel extra miles if the roads are good.

    My list :

    route1 : hyd-solapur-bijapur-kolhapur-goa

route2; hyd-kurnool-bellary-hospet-hubli-goa [here suggest me whether to take road via karwad or ramnagar]

    route 3: hyd-jadcherla-raichur-hospet-hubli-goa.
on 4 wheels u feel the speed after a crash, 2 wheelers are much more advanced

    Kemmannagundi-Mulliyanagiri

    Ooty trip

Dont think of the second route, as it in thw worst condition between bellary & hospet.

The 3rd route is pretty decent till hospet.
      Give way to trains.

          Try this route...

          Hyd->Solapur-->Pandarpur->NH9-->Gandhiglaj->Amboli Ghat-->Panjim

This was suggested in team-bhp. It is a tried and tested route it seems. But, here and there due to bad rains, there might be bad patches.

From Hubli to Karwar, even I dont have proper info, may be bangalore members can help you, from karwar to goa, it is decent enough.

As said by Ravi, even you can try the above route also.

@ Pabi: Its been not even 10 days back from Chikmagalur and here you are with the goa plan very good nice to hear that.

              Route 1:Hubli-kalgatgi-yellapura-karwar-goa
              Route 2:Hubli-dharwad-dandeli-ramanagara-goa
The roads on all the routes have taken a beating after heavy rains.I did bangalore -sira-ankola-cuncolin-margoa last month 15th.Dont have words to describe the condition of roads.Once u enter ankola or karwar beware of ore laden trucks that push u directly into the slush on either side of the road.

Pabi, In the first week of this month, two of our nonactive xbhp members did a trip to Gokarna (near goa). I will ask them and let you know the very latest update. Expect by afternoon.

                    @ Pabi,
                    Hey bro,
I have done Hyderabad-Goa-Hyderabad for a 4day tour last year. And this is the route that i have done.
                    Hyderabad -Goa (Up Journey)
                    Hyderabad-Jadcherla-Raichur-Sindhanur-Koppal-Gadag-Hubli-Karwar-Panjim(GOA)
Total : ~800kms (can't be done in a single a day, but it can be if you enter ghat section before 2pm at yellapur X roads)
another suggested route from Hyderabad- Goa
                    Hyderabad-Jadcherla-Raichur-Bagalkot-Belgaum-Londa-Panjim(Goa)
Very Short (743kms from Baga Beach(Calangute) to my home (Mehdipatnam,Hyderabad)

Goa- Hyderabad (Down Journey) ~750kms (can be done in a single day if start early from panjim)
                    Panjim-Belgaum(150kms+)-Bagalkot-Raichur-Jadcherla-Hyderabad.

The above two routes are 80% traffic less, the rest 20% traffic is with iron ore lorries once you enter Karnataka, but this is the case in last year. I recent news paper/media, there is a stay on this iron ore manufacturing between hospet, koppal, gadag and karwar. Thats a good news for us. I am once again planing this trip on November 25th/2010. You can call me at 90107 91686, for more information.

From the your above list, out of those 3 routes, i would suggest to stick to route 1 if want to be with national highways. i think, Paulo Travels (volvo) takes this route from Hyderabad(nanal nagar) to Panjim.

                    Thanks

Latest update from two of our xbhp members who done goa trip 10 days back.

This route is the same as suggested by Koushik above.

                      Hyderabad-Zadcharla-Mahaboobnagar-Raichur-Hospet-Hubli-Yellapur Ghats-Karwar-Panjim (Goa).

The road updates: Roads in good shape except some patches that are bad. 90% of the roads are better.

                      Some cautions:
                      • After entering the Karnataka border, beware of speedbrakers before and after the every village.
                      • When the Hospet is somewhere around 30-35 kms, ask way for Hubli. It is a right turn before 30-40 kms to Hospet.
                      • Ask for Karwar road after Hubli.
                      • The yellapur ghats are in very good shape and very scenic and enjoyable ride.

                        @ ravi,
Yes thats right, i forgot to mention about the speed breakers, there will be a serial of speed breakers at the village entrance and exit (min of 4 to max of 8, this depends on the village how big it is..,i personally noticed). you can notice these speed bumps right from shaktinagar(KA border). At hubli contact traffic police for karwar, its a straight road after a major traffic signal opp to petrol bunk, if I am not wrong. And bro let me know if you have any trips in mind...i visit goa twice a year just for the refreshment.

@ kaushik and ravi: thanks a lot for those suggestions , my present plan is to also cover hampi on the way so would stay at night there. Route via karwar is a bit lengthy from Google maps. Is there another short route from hubli but only if its good to cruise at speeds of atleast 60-70 kmph.

Still i am in planning stage members not yet finalized hope it gets executed [the usual leave prob from office ]. You can do me a favour, as it is will be my first visit to Goa, so help me where to stay [5 members] , water sports and other things.

I stayed at Skylark, adjacent to Colva Beach.Worth every penny for the room.Since I had been alone so didnt even bother to check for the rates for water sports.Mickeys is a nice Resto bar in close proximity to Skylark. The tariffs i opted was Rs.1500 Deluxe(Since my company was paying).Beer:Rs 55/-. One more advantage is that you have Authorised Service stations of almost all manufacturers in Margoa( 6kms from COLVA), just in case any of the bikes require some surgery to be done. The prices of all commodities will shoot up to twice or thrice the value it is in March or September.Purchase a map for 20/- which will be more than worthy.I covered almost the entire north goa in under 200kms following the map.Road conditions around Margoa,Verna,Panaji etc are good, but look out for those patchy tracks when you are goin sight seeing.

                              @Pabi,
being this is your first visit to goa, i strongly suggest you to stay at Baga beach which is just 2kms away from Calungute beach and calungute is also a nice option. At baga beach you find full of angrez b....s (which is a must for first visitor to goa for proper eye exercise) and this place is also filled with full of shacks on the beach side, disco's- (Cafe Mambo's & Tito's)& Pubs. And you can also check Anjuna beach's great psytrance disco club(Paradiso).Baga is also a good place for water sports. On other hand, baga beach hotels/resorts are little high on the rates from Sep-Oct and very high at from Nov-March. Let me know if you need more information.
