The quality checks are done by the dealership workshop engineers. It is called the PDI. There is not much you and I can check other than see if the indicators and lights and brakes are in normal working condition and oil is at the requisite level and no apparent leaks or damages or scratches and a decent tension on the drive chain.

    Approved
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

That basically sums up the things that are in our hands to check.
Also is there any way that we can check the month of engine manufacture?
That is due to me coming across some people who had their bikes delivered with engines manufacture date as 3-6 months earlier.
      These are some points:
      1) Oil Levels

      2) Tyre pressure (This is because when I took delivery of my Pulsar 220 in Sept. 2010, the tyre pressures were 40(rear) & 32(front)!!!)

      3) Functioning of all lights (high beam, low beam, 4 indicators, brake light, all LED's in console)

      4) Take a small ride & check for any vibrating noises.

      5) Check if the key works in all the places it should (ignition, petrol tank lock, all panel locks)

      6) Alignment of tyres with respect to the rear mud flap/front fender.

      7) Check for functioning of horns.

      8) Play in the clutch, brake levers & the accelerator.

These are the points that come to my mind.
Remember, don't hesitate to ask questions or even complain cos in your case you have paid well over 1,00,000 bucks for the machine & you have all the rights to ask/question.
And yeah, nearly forgot, congrats on your new babe!!!

You generally get the RTO tax receipt, Insurance, user manual, delivery note, etc.
The smart card containing your RC, TC details will take 30-45 days to come to the showroom. I took delivery of my Pulsar 220 on 11th Sept & still awaiting the smart card.
Always ready to help fellow bikers.

It is a smart marketing gimmick once again. You pay some 100 INR to get it. Small laminated chip and magnetic strip embedded card which is absolutely of NO use! Just looks hip!

not only hip but quite functional instead of "lugging" around the book which can & tends to get damaged in rains & all

the smart card smartly fits in wallet & easier to maintain & carry

that's the reason I converted my license too into smart card after 3 duplicates of the earlier book version ones

so .. do rto offices have the reader or will i have to find one which has it ....
I think i'll just get the old one ,and laminate it , that'll protect from the elements .... its worked out well for me so far ..

As far as Pune is concerned, we get it by default with all vehicle purchases. It is not optional here. It is similar to the new smart card driving license with a chip with all the data stored in it. Just have to carry it in the wallet along with all your cards. A boon on long trips. For us there is no extra cost as well. Included in the RTO registration fees.

Smart card concept still hasn't come in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and all. It is here in Mumbai, comes by default. In south they just give a certificate kind of thing which you have to take a xerox and keep it in your wallet. Original document is not required but here it is mandatory and good that they have this concept which makes it simple to carry it around.

One more thing.....if you buy insurance from the showroom itself, make sure that the premium is paid to the insuring company on the day of purchase itself. Or, go directly to the insurance company and buy your policy.

In my case, the showroom sent payments a week after my purchase, I had an accident 3 days after getting my ride, claimed insurance and now, my claim is being delayed for some shitty unacceptable reasons from nearly 2 months and Ive experienced some of the worst finger pointing business outside of government offices.
