  • Chrome Cleaner

Well, it is winter time.... Which means it is time to clean the bikes. So does anyone have a suggestion for a good dual purpose cleaner for chrome and polished aluminum? The stuff I use now loses its glimmer within hours, and basically leaves a dull finish.

    Query approved.

but if someone suggests you something here, would that be available in US? I doubt.

Home Remedy - Use wet tamarind (the one that's used for cooking). Works like a charm. Soak the tamarind in water and use the "sludge" to scrub off grime and restore the shine to those chrome plated parts.

Other alternative - Brasso (if i am not wrong). This is used for polishing brass and antique articles but would probably work well on chrome too. I haven't tried brasso, and if you must, please do so at your own risk. :P
ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

Silvo, not Brasso. Its available even in US as well as in India. It shines well & easy to clean, but can't be used on Aluminium as there're no visible results.

A product (yellow tube) available in India called as Brito...worked very well for me. Also rubbed it on the grill of a vintage Toyota Super saloon. Was very happy with the result.

Use a wad of aluminium foil dipped in coke (carbonated cola any brand) and scrub chromed surfaces. Works like a charm.

Brasso and Brito looks very similar when they are squeezed out - a pinkish colored liquid and it works wonders. I have used both and it served well.

                Re: Chrome Cleaner

Coke (Diet coke preferred) and tinfoil works to remove light rust from chrome.
