Thanks for the information man, & yes K&N does make filters for cars, but then I didn't know that HP is also into filters for 2 wheelers (hehe).

      Thanks again.

      Take care.

          win some lose some.

This topic had been discussed many times but I was adamant to think that High flow air filters increase performance until I rode a couple of bikes with filters on them.

Filter + stock jet will drop torque in the lower RPM's which means you gotta keep the bike in the power band in the city all the time resulting in overheatng.
Filter + oversized jet will kill your top end, revs get cut before you reach peak power RPM, WOT results are disappointing.
As a matter of fact it is difficult to procure the perfect sized jet for your bike in the market. In the end, you wind some you lose some.
Got cash ? Invest in porting, shaving cylinder head, oversized pistons and not on something that might enhance/deteriorete your bike's performance.

[quote=sameer_hyd;119823]Dude I 've been using K&N since 10,000 kms and there's not a single problem relating to that.....Regarding rejetting, If you want your bike to perform well Go for it Otherwise Just tuning is enough....

            you mean carb setting right??

if you really want performance, go for sprocketing(more teeth for more torque/lesser teeth for a btter top-end) and there quite a few options..

I have a 180 ug3, got a k&N recently the above observation is quite true and the best bet... In fact this is what aides to a outrageously good mileage figure if you r frequently travelling in traffic..and you always can Blast offf when ever you want..

For long rides, last time I had a mileage figure same as a 150!!(although we both were cruising on 85-100..!

@sam..rejetting will further screw your mileage...trust me dat hurts!..wel with this mod all you can expect(performance wise) a good take off and roaring sound that will put a cbr to shame...you can keep re-oiling your filter a WD-40 grade oil after every 10k...

Tuning: I don't exactly know, what does the mech do or how does he do it(I don't want to mess with the carb personally....Have done it already....BIG MISTAKE) He does it all by himself...and trust me, does a commendable job..
Bro.... I've bought and installed it from sugreev...Kar1zma has given his number Above....Awesome guy....knows his work...they usually install K&N for cars...And he has some vintage bikes too
Edit: The model number is R1060 And costs around 1800/-

I have a K&N on my cbz xtreme
running on the stock jets with the carb tuned...
i had to fit a K&N cause i have converted my bike's rear suspension to a monoshock.. so had to take out the stock air filter..

if you still think your bike needs a K&N .. then go for it. if you are then its better that you dont fix it directly over the carb... better fit it over a pipe leading to the carb.

also you have to be very cautious while cleaning the filter... dont use any solvent.. just dip it in a mild detergent water and gently brush the outer surface and then rinse it. its better if you rinse it some mineral / RO water (so that salt doesnt clog the tiny air pores in the filter element)
A man's testosterone level is directly proportional to bhp that he's using on his motorcycle.

can you put some light on not connecting the filter directly to the carb .. because most of the people told me to do that .. but i wanted inside the air box ,, but how ?

I suppose you get two types of k&n (not sure tho)...The one that you can directly fit on the carb (off roader type) and the one that you got to put in the air box...so better check it out before you go for it...i have the one in my air box...using it for the past 30000+kms...and has given me no problems at all...just that i had to clean it twice...and yes...u have to buy a special k&n recharger kit for this purpose...consists of 2 bottles...cleaning fluid and oil...costs 950 rupees...can be used multiple times to clean your filter

y are you so bent upon putting an air filter on your bike man .. the stock filter of the RTR is nice and RTR is a performance oriented bike ..

my take .. just let it be .. putting an air filter has its pros and cons .. u dont just fit it .. u have to set the proportion right .. re-jetting is needed .. and then the balance ratio has to be obtained ..

and RTR is already a nice and fast bike .. just let it be dude ..

                                Good point there yachnit....!

But Mr. Jam92 propority is not to improve the performance but rather to change the sound of the bike
