i changed the total wiring of my zma 2 days ago, installed a 9ah battery and a 55/60 OSRAM general halogen. cost 70 bucks,
within 2 days my battery is completely DRAINED

it cant be a current leakage issue, coz the wiring is new..
i did not install a relay.. coz many here have installed a 55/60 with a stock setup...
What could be the problem... ?? could any1 enlighten me...

expert nahi hu yaar.Originally posted by Ascetic View PostFriends ! I have got two 60/55w xenon bulbs for my r15. Can i connect another battery to the stock one in parallel and run these bulbs without any problems of battery draining and wiring heat up?? Please reply. Thanks.
what do you actually have?
two 60 W HID
or two 60/55 halogen filament bulbs
anyways
R15 will not take the load of two 60W HIDs
Theoretically
Watts / volts = Amps
60*2/12 = 10 A
initial HID ballast input current will be more than this. ead the specs of your HIDs.
so to run just the HIDs only you will need about 11 A and few more for other things. eg fuel pump, injector, cooler, tail-tell lights, horn, etc.
Not from battery only, but at the battery terminals when the engine is running.
Some guys have done similar setup with two 60/55 W halogens or , but the stock battery gets completely drained on prolonged use. remember, R15 has no kick-start, so you'll have to push-start it.
If you want better battery you can go for single 9 Ah battery. I'll recommend Amron Probiker alpha/beta 9 Ah battery 1500/-
R15's coil can charge this battery easily. the coil is of very good design.
I recommend HID and P220 projector on low beam and filament bulb on high beam, with relays of course. You need Filament bulb for flashing high beam flashing an HID will greatly reduce its life.
35 or 40w HID is good enough. first try the one you've got.Last edited by MotionFreak; 03-05-2011, 10:41 AM.

lots and lots of confusion here guys............
1.that r 15 twin bulbs are not xenon, its a simple blue coated halogen bulb, worse then the original bulb if the wattage is same ,if wattage is more like 55/60,def going to drain the battery.
2.zma from bhpal, sir you check your charging circuit,a karizma can support 130/100 watt bulb, first hand checked by me,even without changing the battery.so check your charging system.
3.p 150/180 ug 4 are full dc but its only good upto 40 watts,so fitting a 55/60 will drain the battery.
4.i have 2 known p 220s one carb one fi,both running with 80 watt halogen bulbs,no issues.the bcu never created a problem.this is more then 3 months now.heat is bearable and still no burn or change.sigpic

What if i add another battery in parallel to the stock? Will i still be facing the problems of wiring heat up and battery draining?Originally posted by drvmtm View Postlots and lots of confusion here guys............

adding another battery... get new 9Ah battery. don't know how will rectifier, bcu work around additional battery.
R15 magneto can charge 9Ah battery easily.
if you can source a R15 battery for trying, then go ahead. try, if successful, get a new one. I'd suggest, you should try, and then buy 9Ah battery.
headlamp wiring heat up is due to more current drawn through it than stock. a relay might solve this problem. nothing to do with additional battery.
BTW those bulbs won't last much.
I'd suggest low beam HID (35W) + projector
and high beam 60W halogen bulb with new battery
this is the place to discuss

i sure did, the charger has been compromised, and that means another 1.6 grands i have to shell out..Originally posted by drvmtm View Postlots and lots of confusion here guys............

It was never the question of the battery supporting the 55/60W..
coz, 60W / 12volts = 5A
i have a 9Ah battery so, its no problem..
anyways, got the battery charged today, lets hope the problem doesn't continue

Why do you insist on replacing your good headlamp bulbs with fake-HIDs of dubious origin which are worse than standard halogen bulbs ??Originally posted by Ascetic View PostWhat if i add another battery in parallel to the stock? Powerful lamps for Ambition
Experts
I have 7 year old HH Ambition 135. I have not changed the bulb since day 1. But now its high time I upgrade the bulbs.
Please suggest if I should go for any particular brand, suitable wattage. I was also wondering whether I should get those bulb glass covers ( dont know what its called) replaced with new ones. One mechanic had told me that you can NOT clean those headlamp glasses from inside, since they have some special coating. If you do, you need to replace them with new ones.

What is the headlamp socket type in Ambition 135?I have 7 year old HH Ambition 135. I have not changed the bulb since day 1. But now its high time I upgrade the bulbs.

In Ambition 133(old model) the headlight socket is M5(bulbs which are egg shaped commonly found in scooters).
If M5 - Don't go for 55/60w bulbs; the shape of the bulbs with the extra heat damages the reflector(mine was damaged).
If HS1 you can simply go for H4 55/60w bulbs.
bulb glass covers(reflectors) should not be cleaned since they are 7 years old and the coating can get peeled off.
since you are thinking of lighting upgradation change the reflector also, check the battery. I never had battery issues with 55/60w bulb.
