Karizma Fuel Cap Problem

    Happened once last nite when goin back home. Followed santoosh's advice and insted of opening the fuel cap I just turned off the ignition, turned on and fired it! Voila! It started and acceleration was crisp as if I had opened the fuel cap..


    Then today morning got up and poured water using a syringe through the drain hole. The water did not come out through the drain pipe down. It came out somewhere in the middle. It dripped over the engine and came down finally. Any clue?
    We are miles away from the routine.
    Headlights rise over the horizon.
    Pierce the morning fog.
    Cut through the clutter in our minds.
    Carve new highways!

      You have two problems :
      1. You have loose contact in the On/Off Ignition switch which you need to correct...there is a sliding lock at the mouth of ignition key switch. With a fine blade or thin flat screw driver GENTLY open it and spray WD40 or Zorrick in to the key hole liberally.....Now insert the key and operate the switch slowly for a few times, then repeatedly insert and take out key, to push oil inside....this should after some time give a new lease of life to your contacts.
      2. the drain from the petrol tank gets connected to a tube at the bottom of the tank, which drains it near the stand. Obviously it is no longer in place. To correct this remove the right side(Gear shifter) cover and look underneath the tank to locate and refit the tube....otherwise take it to A.S.S or a good mechanic and get the job done.

        ^^ Thanks a lot again sir. Can I use 2T oil for the ignition? I have that and ordinary machine oil. Can I use that?

        Then for the fuel drain pipe I will give it a shot this weekend. If I am not able to then I will take it to a mech.

          WD40 and Zorrick are lube oils in a aerosol can ,which will spray oil under pressure,into the lock opening there by sending it deep down...they also contain additives to clean the area where they are sprayed.which is why I suggested it

          Ok it is doable and you will get the satisfaction and happiness of doing it.

            Thanks And my guess is that we get the WD40 in our regular automobile shops?

              Yes WD 40 in automobile shops and Zorrick in Hardware shops

                  Apart from lubrication it has additives to work on rusted threads..After a few minutes of spraying , rusted nut and bolts will become free to rotate...It also keeps moistire away by leaving a thin film of oil....
                  There is a small dia tube given as attachment to the spray mouth,which will enable reaching hard to get at areas....and since it is sprayed under pressure it can go deeper into areas and do it's stuff.

                      I've been facing this issue for quite a while. The bike just stops as if an oxygen mask is recieved

                      @PSR I'll check the fuel lock as you suggested. Thanks for the pics and explanation. Apart from this when this happens if i try starting with the switch the trip meter and clock resets to defaults. I'm presuming the battery is weak. can you confirm?
                      By the way It's a 2008 ZMA and has completed 28k.

                        Wow, I've checked the fuel cap and did the checks of blowing air into the nozzle and it's far better now. Thanks for the advice

                          Yes if the battery has low charge the resetting of the trip meter will happen...check battery for low Electrolyte, and if it is within min and max mark then your battery may be suspect.
