    Hi All,

I am new to this XBHP, it is a awesome website for the bike lovers....

Last week only i have bought MY DREAM Orange Monster Pulsar 220 F (Orange) Limited edition, really its superb..... Colour & stylish of the bike attracted me most so that i have selected my Monster... but earlier my frnds suggested me to not to buy pulsar its engine is very poor and not worthful,, ask me to buy apache or ZMR.. i confused what to choose after the long searches in net, Mechanic suggestions many of them gave me Positive suggestions only. so i disheared all my frnds talk and choosed my Orange Monster...

I have done 250kms with 4k rpm, now my problem is i am suffering to shift the gears, when i am shifting the gears its get too hard is it is normal or any problem is there????? and another one is my engine gets very hot with in 1 km up and down what i have to do... Plse kindly suggest me what to do....

First of all its a new machine so harder gear shifts & engine getting hot is very normal there is no worry regarding those minor things.

With the kms build up those things dissapears completely dont worry.

Use motul mineral oil if u r not satisfied with bajaj dtsi oil till 2.5 k on the odo then after that u can use semi synthetic oils.

Buddy u are not riding a commuter bike, the bike tends to stall in 35-40kmph(2.5~3k rpm) in 5th gear, ride between 60~70kmph(above 4k rpm) in 5th gear to get maximum mileage

Hey did anyone forget about the running-in....
Presence of MIND and self CONFIDENCE is the primary aspect You need to be on road, not what brand your riding gears are.
If you lack these two then DONT

@pulsarbab: bro, initially if u get hard gear shift, then check the clutch cable and get it replaced by Bajaj mech. secondly, try to use high octane oil, like Speed 93, Shell etc. u might get a better performance for oil that is burnt. thirdly, if you don't complete the run-in of 1000kms at-least the engine over-heat n other stuff won't be judged for any issue...don't cross 70KMPH during the run-in...another one, if you are concerned about mileage, then along with a high octane fuel, try running in 5K RPM....it will effortlessly pull to 60-65kmph...change ur riding style, if you need...use clutch only when u need to change the gear, or slowing down to traffic signal...these can save fuel...post us your improved experience...

@Manish: clean & lube the chain properly...at least 2 times in a month...use a good engine oil: Mak 4t excel/Motul mineral/Valvoline semi-synth...these two might solve your gear shift issue...in my opinion shift from 1 to 2, is always a lil' problem with the Pulsar gearbox...Secondly, if u r into performance, then dnt just change the filter alone, you won't feel much change in the pull...u need to have the exhaust changed & cylinder head tuned...anyway, for filter u can always refer to commonly used, K&N...

                          thanks for the quick reply,

As i mentioned earlier I m looking for performance, So i need some assistance on wher and appx expenditure i might land into, N VERY IMPORTANT, I dont wanna loose the manufacturers warranty here, So abt exhaust and cylinder head, There is a risk i guess, Instead i was planning for a Motul 300V. But not sure of it since many have complained about the oil leak... Does any1 suggest castrol power1 racing oil on 220????

And i have noticed one more thing on my bike, /the radiator tips the endings where it looks like a tap, There is a margin oil leaks at the ends when the engine is hot, Anyone having same prob???

Guys sorry again for messing up questions,,,

                          i'll just arrange it here
                          1) is Motul 300V oil recommended on 220 at 5000 odo??? I have heard issues on this Or any other brand than bajaj dtsi !!

                          2)
castrol power1 racing oil on 220???

                          3) Oil leak near the radiator ends even after complaining to the bajaj they just applied some paste and sent it back.

                          4) Air filters?? Rc 1100???

                          5) iridium spark plugs?? Which one to install?? Same on both sides or different versions??

                          6) where to get the spark plugs and filters installed in bangalore?? and wer can i get motul here??

LAst question.... Any suggestions on the low beam lighting on 220 faired version cause its not clear.. I m planning for a HID or a bulb replacement which shouldn't void warranty.. So suggestions required asap.. And My twin projectors are focused to the lowest level..

PLs suggestions required ASAP planning to get it done in next fortnight

As per the earlier instrctions i have done 500kms around 3 - 4k rpm, its performance is awesome but sometimes it gets too hard to shift the gear. i think my Monster is giving around 40-42 kmpl... anyway i got a powerful experience with my monster.... only problem is hard gearing ...

                              @ pulsarbab

                              Dont worry..

Problem with gear will be all right after first service... and a few kms

u must ride your bike within 50 kmph or in between 3.5k or max 4k rpm till 2000 kms

i rode my bike in this way ..

till 1st service i got 43 kmpl of mileage

and after that i got 53kmpl above mileage..

                              read manual carefully !!
