Preferred for Bajaj engines also.
I think you must be using the regular SC oil which is Bajaj DTSI 10,000. It is one of the crappiest oil ever made. The reason for hard shifts is because of this cocunut oil put in engines.
I have attached the list of motul oil grades in the link.
Have gradual increase in speed limits, Everyday try to increase the speed by 10kmph of the previous day. Let the engine smooth out easily. You are free to take it to trips too buddy!Last edited by Eshan-P180; 06-15-2011, 06:04 PM.sigpic

hi buddies,
for new bikes please follow runin seriously. the future of the bike depends on it.
stick to mineral oil till atleast 2500km.
you can use bajaj oil or motul or valvoline.
after that you can upgrade to semisynthetic.
follow an early drainage intervale for your engine oil during the first 2500km. might be hard on the pocket but it ensures the life of the engine as well as keeping the gear smooth.
do not use aftermarket air filters as piper cross or k&n.( personal recomendation)
upjetting or bigger bore will void the waranty dont do it unless u want your bike joeled
.
i use a 220 dtsi for 2 years no problems till now. have done 148km/hr with juice left( was scared going above) i get a sane mileage of around 42km/l
my bike pulls effortlessly at 4krpm at 5th gear at 67km/hr
take good care of your bike. 220 needs a lot of care and attention and affection.

Just stick to motul 3000 4T mineral oil [15W50] till 2.5 k on the odo u can feel the difference in your bike regarding gear shifts, smoothness & refinement just after draining that dtsi shit & loading with motul mineral oil.Originally posted by pulsarbab View PostHi Guyzz.. i have done my 1st service last week.. now my bike performance is good, but sometimes its get hard to shift the gears.. now i am riding my bike around 50 - 65kmph only.. what i have to do get my engine run smoothly.. i have taken my bike speed upto 80kmph only.. can i increase the speed now is it the right time??? because last month only i bought and done 1200kms in odo...PULSAR 180 DTSI- 2007

I have done almost 1300 on odo.
During 1st service the svc was putting valvoline oil which I changed to DTSi 10000 oil on recommendation of a xbhpian ( who was there for his bike svc ).
Initially the bike was butter smooth. I did a small ride which involved driving in rain and little muddy water. After that the bike has become a little rough. The gears are hard, but only in low speed when in speed it shifts easily. It may be because then I just click instantaneously. There are some vibrations overall and some sound from rear. I suspect that some mud may be doing this. I am planning again a long ride ~300 kms. Will be visiting svc tomorrow. Should I go for oil change now or is it ok with DTSi 10000 ?
I occasionally drive at 80 kmph for 30 mins or so. Can it harm the engine ? Its not crossed the 2k mark yet and I drove when it was ~800 kms on odo
Please suggest guys..

My experience on my 220 f
Most of these problems are standard Bajaj niggles. The gear shift problem occurs between the 1st, 2nd and neutral only. Rest all is good. Thats all i can say from my experience of about 7500 Kms on my 220 F. Im sick and tired of the numerous problems on my bike and might sell it off
. The build quality is just too poor.
Just flick the switch and twist my wrist
The beast comes alive, bringing me back to life
A tap to shift and flick of the wrist
The beast takes flight bringing me back to life
Kill the silence, tear apart the dark
The beast rips the road, hell yeah, i feel alive.
