+1. Need some help from wise brains here. If this decompressor thing is not present in Dazzler, then why it cannot be installed as both unicorn & dazzler share the same engine?

Today I faced a serious problem with my 2010 Honda Stunner. As you all probably know, it too doesn't have a kick start lever like the Dazzler.

I have not been using my bike for the last 1 week and hence the battery drained out (completely). I don't know how this can happen as the battery was working fine 1 week back. Today the self starter didn't work so I had to push start the bike (which I could manage after 3-4 attempts). The horn and the rpm meter too were not functioning initially but after riding the bike for about 1 Km the rpm meter started working.

The horn and self starter and the indicators are still not working. I've given the bike to HASS for charging the battery. But I am very disappointed with the quality of battery Honda has provided.

The HASS people told me that it was not possible to install a kick lever on Stunner. I am really disappointed with Honda.

All people praising Honda mindlessly should take note of this...Honda doesn't provide world class quality products after all ..

I bought the bike on 17 Oct 2010. So it's not been a year. Still about 4 months short...

Also...it has the so called "maintenance free battery" so I guess I need not maintain it, right?

The quality of the battery provided is probably not so good...

Yes. I too agree. Honda bikes are very costly, but honda gives very less features to customer. Removing kicker and putting lower-power 4 ah battery is just plain stupid on part of honda. I have enquired with dazzler owners, and 1 out of 3 dazzler customers have starting problem, that is 33%.

Many people dont know, but fact is low-power 4 Ah maintenance-free battery is cheaper than the bigger 8 Ah lead-acid battery. Yes, cars dont have kicker. But cars have powerful 30 Ah to 100 Ah batteries. Also, cars dont have carburetor. Cars have fuel injection technology, so starting problem is not there.

Honda removed kicker just to make rs.1000 extra profit. And by giving 4 Ah battery, honda again make exta rs.300 profit. But honda forgot about the problems this will cause to customers, especially in crowded city traffic. Honda products are not very reliable. People simply praise honda.

Yes, i too want to know what this decompressor is. If dazzler does not have decompressor and kicker, can both of these be purchased and installed by outside mechanic later in dazzler? Even Fz has kicker now.

you can see in the cbz/hunk forum: I have uploaded pix of added kicker in new hunk . And as the engine in CBZ,unicorn, dazzler, hunk are same it is possible but till now Honda didn't think it off. But hero honda did and i'm sure honda will also come up with the same. cost is 4700
Don't research too much while purchasing, else you will commit blunder

The decomp mechanism on the camshaft decompresses the exhaust valve spring when kick starting to reduce the return force of the kick starter in case the engine doesn't start in the first kick.

Engine oil for honda unicorn.( my bike)

20w40 honda mineral is recommended for unicorn by honda; during 2nd service, this same oil was filled as no other is approved. going through engine oil thread in xBhp at great length & depth, i came to conclusion, i could use either,Castrol Power1 or castrol Power1 Racing, semi syn & fully syn oils respectively.
I even bought 2 liters of semi syn Power1 for future use ,knowing fully well how good this oil is, having used it in my hh splendor, for many many months. i only dream when i may use this oil in my unicorn, this bike already so smooth and so quiet, will i am sure will only dazzle by super quiet performance!!!

However, when i went over to buy a bottle of power1 Racing fully synthetic(10w40), i was stopped short when i was told that it now comes only in 10w50.grade! This info was given by a reputed Castrol dealer, who even told me that this oil, indeed is available in not genuine form as well.

What i would like to know is, whether i may use this 10w50 oil?FSyn.

My own interpretation is, 10w50 oil, where 50 is thicker, & sticking to walls of engine more ,while it ought to be thinner and flowing around cooling engine and lubricating it ,will by virtue of its thickness, should not be used in my UNICORN, however GOOD the oil may be, & this may hold good for the MOTUL 300v 15w50 factory line, fully synthetic, just as well.
I feel let down somewhat,as i may not use this excellent oil & i may have to rest content with power1 semi synthetic oil only for now!!!

Will some one kindly inform me what my course of action should be?

Well wouldnt it be a better idea for you to make a new post of your query in the engine oils thread by copy pasting & later deleting the OT post here instead of asking the Moderator to do it.

Well it also depends upon how the wiring of the horn is being done on the bike it plays a key role too i have a P220 and i have put 2 Roots Horn and i nvr have a prob i jst remember my mechanic told me that you need to put the horn in a cut method or something :P

Haven't read the whole thread but I had actually seen one dazzler with a unicorn kick starter installed!!!

There is even a pic of that bike (Red Dazzler) from a facebook album in the dazzler ownership thread! Also as far as I remember that bike was from bombay.

As far as starting problems go, then its really sad we dazzler owners dont have a kick start, I have myself suffered from a dead battery for a month and a half! But then Honda replaced my battery for free so then so far so good!

And if all else fails then let me tell you the technique to push start the dazzler. I had gotten to be such an expert at it that I would cold start the bike in mornings (20 degress) in 4 steps!

Anyways, kepp your bike in second gear. Push the bike so that the speedo shows 6 kmph, pop the clutch & simultaneously give a quarter of accelerator AND the engine fires!!! For cold starting make sure the choke is open fully. Also you might have to make sure that your clutch free play is optimal AND the friction between rear tyres and road is good (could never start the bike on smooth cement floor of basement parking lot )
