Front fork oils available in the market are usually 5wt to 10wt oils ( not sure about the motul's weight ) . It is common to use a heavier oil like 20wt to stiffen up a too-soft front fork that bottoms out easily . This can also compensate for a) heavier bike b) bad roads c) heavy rider . It was once common to use engine oil in the fork and a 10w30 works nicely , because it is a 10wt base oil only . The original honda manual for CT90/CUb , asks to use the same oil for it's engine and front forks ( a 10w30 ) . However a 20w40 would probably be a bit too heavy and make the fork too stiff , by itself . So your mechanic has mixed it with the lighter fork oil to arrive at an intermediate weight (like say 15) from his personal experience . Ride the bike and observe if the fork has become too stiff for your liking . If so change it . If it feels ok , let it be . Oil is oil , no harm .
Also consider this - mechanics love shortcuts ; any mechanic would have used the oil you bought him straight away , would have been easier for him to , no complains . That he has taken all this faltu trouble to do this chemisty , at the risk of losing a good customer for future, means that probably he confidently knows what he is doing .

    1. I was changing the front fork oil of my Pulsar, and bought a bottle of Motul fork oil (350mL). I remember that for every oil change you need 2 bottles, but this time, the shop owner handed me a bottle and said it will do. I took it to the service station and the guy there, poured 150 mL of fork oil in a measuring cup and added 150 mL of 20W40 (made it to 300). When he I asked him about this, he said this is the right and efficient way to do it. I m APPALLED. Is this something that you guys too do ?

    3. While servicing my bike I also saw Wurth disk brake cleaners. Has anyone tried this before ? I used to use Motul in France, but Wurth was something I did not come across for longtime since. Is this after market product specific to OEM and not for general consumer's ?

All feedback's are welcome and much appreciated.
    Cheers and happy revving.
Disk Brake cleaners are not essential for the maintenance of disk brakes as the brakes are self cleaning.
I dont think engine oil should be mixed with the fork oil and 20w40 is way too thick for putting in the forks.

    Hey Fellow xBHPians,
I noticed following 3 things during this weekend and am perplexed with them. Hope to get some feedback from you guys.

    2. As we all know Shell has 2 petrol variants. Unleaded and Super Unleaded. Off late I m not able to distinguish difference between them when I ride. Performance wise there is absolutely no "significant" difference. Given the astronomical price I really want to get to the bottom of this. Has someone noticed this recently ?

    3. While servicing my bike I also saw Wurth disk brake cleaners. Has anyone tried this before ? I used to use Motul in France, but Wurth was something I did not come across for longtime since. Is this after market product specific to OEM and not for general consumer's ?
