  • Bike Stops : Opening fuel cover solves the issue

    Hi all,

Absolute newbie to not just xbhp but also biking.

I bought a Hero Honda Glamour 2 months back. The first one month was problem free.

But of late, I have noticed that whenever I park the bike in any kind of basement area, once I take the bike out, the bike stops after first 100-200 mts.

I took it to a roadside mechanic and he told me that whenever the bike stops, I should open the fuel tank cover for sometime and then start the bike again. Found that it works.

My question is, is this a common thing or is it unique to my bike? Why is this happening? What is the solution? I took it to the service center but they couldn't tell me why this was happening...

@Sb29 - Pls search for my posts in Rx thread. I've explained this in detail as how to resolve this issue.

@Satyen - Its not vapor lock, its vaccum.

^^ vapour lock / vaccuum lock / air lock --- all the same mate.

different terms used by different people, it means same.

I don't think so; see the wiki, it reads out...
The fuel can vaporise due to being heated by the engine,
While its not the case. Its simply the outside air cannot enter into the fuel tank as fast as the fuel exits to the carbs/FI causing vaccum.

aargee is right.. you may be using it in slang to refer to the same issue, but inherently they are not...

@OP - clean the fuel cap with petrol/kerosene. The breather inlet seems to be choked..

It is not an uncommon thing and HeroHonda Service center should certainly have detected it at once , as well as cleaned the pressure relief valve then and there for you .
                        @ Aargee , that's a awesum number you got , congrats .

This is a frequent issue in my ZMA, happened 4-5 times till date.
I get it fixed by opening the tank everytime.
BTW this thread need a visit of xpolice

So far I know HH Glamor is PGM-Fi bike right!
for FI bikes, you need to keep 4-5 liters petrol minimum in the tank to maintain the pressure otherwise the bike doesnt perform well.
because Fuel injected bikes(Glamor,RTR 160FI,Stunner and P-220) gives this type of problems when fuel is less
You need atleast half tank full so
just fill petrol in the tank when the level falls down till 4 to 5 liters.Dont wait till reserve
                              This problem will not happen

If still the problem persists, the please show it to HH service center
maybe there will be some problem in the Fuel injector then
