Lack of timely lubrication leads to premature problems with chain links....they rust and also get damaged..the kinking you have mentioned is a clear indication of lack of proper lube leading to the link getting rusted and jamming.....with an open chain guard, take it to the nearest welder and ask him to slightly heat up the particular link while tapping on it to release the kink, and once it is corrected immediately apply grease or thick oil for the entire chain and ride with chain guard in place..
If you are not sure of the welder's ability to understand , then it is best to remove chain, and keep it soaked in light engine oil for an hour and then try straightening the kink by gently hitting the kinked link with a nylon or rubber hammer...

Yes spraying WD 40 and waiting for at least 15 minutes before tapping with mallet will help...but in this case the bike is regularly used and still even with the sprocket pull the kink remains, which makes me think that there is a serious case of lack of lube for some time and so soaking in light oil for some time will help penetration,and help in releasing the link...similarly heating with a blow torch will make the link expand and enable it to work loose..but the heat must be medium level and if the welder does not know this he can actually make the link weak,leading to replacement of the chain.

Will try heating the link and then lubricating again. Wont the extreme heat of a welding torch damage the O-ring since its made of rubber? If this doesn't work then will soak the chain overnight.

I had already posted the warning while suggesting..if the welder doesn't know what is required ie., apply only less heat,while tapping on it..
Best under circumstances will be to lube the kink with WD40 spray or thin oil wait for 15 minutes and hit the link with mallet of rubber or nylon head

@psr

Last sunday i cleaned and lubricated my chain. Cleaned with kerosene + wd40 and lubricated with Yamalube. Before this i had riden my bike and the chain was warm after the ride. Additionally I heated the link a little bit more with a lighter kept some way below the chain so the flame was not on the kink directly.

Things are much much better now. The heating really helped cause even though the resistance is still there, that kink is moving much more smoothly now. I think after i do the same thing this sunday as well, the problem will get sorted out to a huge extent.

Thanks so much for helping me out on this one. I guess without your inputs I would have taken the bike to the service center and they would have wrecked it in newer ways. Thanks a ton really!!!
