    Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 quries

    Guys, I have recently purchased the new R15 and since a couple of days I have been noticing some sort of a liquid/oil being sprayed onto my right hand side fairing. I took it to the service centre, they said that its nothing to worry about and did something which I am unaware of. It seems to be brake fluid, but I dont see the level of the fluid decreasing in the fluid reservoir mounted on top of the handle bar. Has anyone of you faced the same problem??

    And secondly, I changed the oil and the oil filter at 300kms and I was charged 470/- for the Semi-synthetic oil and 430/- for the oil filter. I think i was ripped off my money since somewhere on the net i read that the oil filter does not cost more than 200/-. Please confirm the price. Thanks

      Oil and oil filter change at 300 kms? Why so soon? The first oil change is at 1000 kms right?? I think you were ripped off with the oil filter price. Its defenitely not Rs.430 now. Also, upgrading to semi synthetic oil at 300 kms also is not recommended.

        I am sorry but this is definitely on the higher side. Yamaha service stations provide bills with part numbers so check for this, 38BE3400000 priced at around 167 INR.

          The cost for Oil Filter is 167, bought it a week back.
          Check the invoice again.
          and yes, you should not have changed it to semi yet, mineral should have been used. if possible use gulf.

          and there is no harm with replacaing oil and oil filter before 1000, actually it should be done once before 200 and once around 500 as per few under discussion engine breaking in theories.

            ya the oil filter costs around 150-180 its lot less now-a days...and i really wonder why did u change engine oil @300km..were u having cramp noise from engine?

              Thanks for your reply guys. The svc guys put in semi-synth saying that the bike comes with semi-synth from the factory itself and I have also read the same on some other forum. I did procure the bill from the svc guy and he hasn't mentiooned the part no., he has just written oil filter that's it.

                And one more thing , when you guys went for your first service, did u specifically tell the mechanics to use mineral oil?
                @starkiller: Bro there was nothing wrong with the engine, I just thought that it would be good enough to change the oil because the oil would have been sitting in the engine for quite some time before it reaches us customer, so it is better to go for an oil change before 1000kms.

                Btw did u feel the gear change to be pretty hard before the first service because everytime i change the gear at 5-6k rpm (especially from 2nd to 3rd), the gear shift feels a bit clunky. Its like the gear hasn't been engaged properly
