  • FZ 16 Rear tyre problem

Hey Guys i am a newbie here.

Have been reading all the threads (impressed wid the first impressions )and glad to see them and it has been helpful a lot.

its a real good work you guys are doing.

I hope to be a part of it to sumday.

I have been thinkin of asking you guys something from a very long time.

I have a Yamaha Fz16 (2 years) and i had found many issues in the rear tyre for the first 8 months or so as it had already punctured 6-8 times...

It was kind f very frustrating and i have been riding less since den.

Also i have started experiencing the problem again for the past 1 week or so (very less average due to that)

I once saw a fz16 having a Dunlop rear tyre which was awesum. So i searched in google and found out that there were many complaints regarding the rear MRFZapper and specifically the ones that come with the bike when you purchase it and so, many of them have suggested Dunlop.

But I needed some advice from you guys for which tyre i should go for as i seem to have very low intrest in buying the new MRF ZApper ones after reading those sites/forums.

To think if the MRF ones are good...then i would go for it but could you please tell me which tyre should i go for as i think Dunlop looks awesum and also is a renowned company?

Thank you very much Appreciate you guys a lot..

I'm FZ used myself & I'v never heard about dunlops for FZ.. Pirelli Sports Demon is what people are mostly suggesting these days.. Even Michelin is available at a bit higher price.. Other members in FZ ownership thread will be able to guide u properly.
PS: My MRF Zapper on FZ is 22 k old over last 2 years & 3-4 punctures so far.. But still going strong & enough tread to last till 25 k kms.

I am not too sure but one owner Danny King may be using Dunlop.

Yes, MRF revz does have some complaints. . I suggest you go for either pirelli or dunlop.

Agree with that statement. I replaced my Fz's rear tyre after 2 yrs with an MRF zapper. the new one seems to be coping well. no punctures and no leaks. peace of mind.

              Thanks !

Pirelli would be your best bet.

                  no problem with rear tyres.

i have a fazer and i must say the rear tyre has no problem at all..
its going strong from september 2009 no punctures at all..
and duke 200 also has revz c
i think mrf revz tyres are actually pretty good..

Dunlops are good and control tyres for many races but i have seen some guys using Pirelli Sport Daemons on track on smaller bikes and they up to my surprise did well(tyres) I am using Dunlops right now and love them...
I dont know what sorta compound MRF is but if the punctures are due to it being soft compound then thats probably better tyre for dry days....

Pirelli sport daemons at work for my one of closest mate on 250ZZR:

you need to trust your tyres as they are the only things which should touch the road while riding :P

Hey Thanks buddy!! But do you know which Dunlop n pirelli ones?
like MRF has the zapper revz so is there kind of any similar names in the segment for Dunlop or Pirelli because i heard from the above replies that Pirelli Deamons are good. I dnt care about the cost as such because for me riding the bike carefully is very important.

Thanks to all for replying Cheers..

Guys i found the below link when i googled about the MRF tyres for FZ16.

MRF TYRE 140/70 YAMAHA FZ-S Complaints

I am not saying that the MRF tyres are bad... no way(as they are made specifically for the Indian roads) but i think Dunlop and Pirelli are far better as have been suggested by some of you guys.
I just want to know the cost and where i can get these tyres so that i can fix the problem as soon as possible.

                        Thanks..

Guys, I have a question if anybody can respond to.

IS the factory fitted MRF Zapper a soft compund tyre?

Because i have seen on the sites people stating that Dunlop and Pirelli both are soft compund ones.

I see they come in many variants...have a look at your tyre wall and then have a look here....

                              Punctured tyres!!!

Same problem here dude... my bike is 3 years old and rear tyre is consistently undergoing multiple punctures... really fed up with this....

one more strange problem i have is front wheel is showing a slight dent on the rim due to which air escapes from the front tyre.. so right now my both wheels are kind of puncture and havent found any concrete solution to it

I am thinking of replacing rear tyre... however for front wheel i dont see any other alternative than wheel change...

... can u guys suggest something??

(BTW its around 17k kms on odo...)
