don't be afraid, ride slowly initially and then when you gain confidence, increase speed.Originally posted by gauthaml View Posthello friends am gautham 21 years old i was driving dio for past 5 years and now am planning to buy a geared bike am new to bike riding i don have any experience of driving a bike . be a safe rider.
if this is your first bike, you can choose between fazer or P200NS, as CBR150 riding position may be too sporty for you and will be a sudden change for you. just a suggestion.
since this is your first post, introduce yourself in the introduction thread.Last edited by princesirohi; 05-08-2012, 11:17 AM.

And how will internet help you acquire the clutch-throttle syncOriginally posted by gauthaml View Postmy main concern is with shifting gears am too worried about moving from a non geared scotter.
Get hold of a bike and ride! Preferably in an empty playground under supervision.

hey bro
even i was a gear-less rider
that too DIO
rode it for 3 yrs
and had no driving experience on geared bike
.
i got a duke recently
and i find it quite comfortable
.
go ahead and try to go steady and learn slowly
even im a newbie in riding geared bikes
but slowly ull get accustomed to it
.
but the feel of gear-less always remains
the light weight body
enough acceleration in traffics and zipping is always good on gear-less

It will be much simpler in your case as you are aware of basics, i.e. acceleration, de-acceleration and braking.
My cousin learned bike riding on ZMA, he was even not aware of non geared ones. After cycle he tried ZMA directly. And dint had accident/fall while learning.
All the best.

The sudden acceleration at traffic signals of even a puny hearted scooty pep with rider+pillion will amaze us. I have struggled to overtake it from standstill with my 14+bhp Hunk many times

Depress clutch lever, Slot in the first gear, and now slowly increase throttle and leave the clutch. You may feel like nothing is happening, but keep leaving clutch slowly only.
But you should be ready for some jerks, switch-off's or so.
As for your bike, I suggest FAZER as it is a relatively safer bike for new riders. (Debatable though). If long term ownership is in your mind, then the Duke should be fun enough for years more.
And a better way, is that you come to a Chennai Get2Gether (G2G, a kind of meeting) with someone else riding the bike, and take help from other members who'll be glad to help you.---
Brotherhood, Rules, Freedom. Xbhp.

I would suggest You to enroll Your self in some riding classes and get expert advice or You can learn the techniques and tips from the internet and other sources and try it out Yourself on a empty road with someone to guide You and riding gears will minimize the risk and give You more confidence.Originally posted by gauthaml View Posthello friends am gautham 21 years old i was driving dio for past 5 years and now am planning to buy a geared bike am new to bike riding i don have any experience of driving a bike . If You see in western countries 250cc bikes are considered to be beginner's bike. As long as You keep the speed under limits and have a control on Your wrist everything should be ok. Make sure when You select a bike, both Your feet should touch the ground flat.Originally posted by gauthaml View Postthanks for ur suggestion friend....my main concern is with shifting gears am too worried about moving from a non geared scotter...and my doubt is can newbie handle a powerfull 200cc bike like p200ns..
