If the problem persists, these are some scenarios that may follow.

The gent from Institute from Animal Studies may want to study what influenced the cat to sit on your bike seat.

The philosopher would ponder why the cat was there at the first place.

The detective will examine the depth and direction of the scratch marks.

Your whole neighbourhood will be abuzz with the commotion.

Then, come along the politician, who will promise you full compensation, and assure that this is on top of his agenda.

Hopefully some inventor will come along and design a seat protection device from cats. But product price may be expensive to cover cost of R&D.

Do not loose hope. Sooner or later, some chinese is bound to get hold of one, copy and mass produce them. Soon it'll hit our shores in every street corners.

One fine day, you will walk out of your house. Buy one. And perhaps start a thread about your "First Hand experience". Every one will live happily every after.

dont put a dog soft toy. if the cat musters up some courage and finds out the fluffyness of the dog, it will rid its fear of dogs for good..
Will be great if this will work...

Start the bike and leave it in neutral for every night, this will save early morning warm-ups

Just open a Korean/Chinese or Vietnamese restaurant close by, that should take care of them, seriously though just put a cover on the bike, if you can't be bothered with that, then just get used to them, I do and they're a great early warning system/deter-ant in case you have a Cobra or Viper visit you compound.
Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

i wouldnt do that.. then what after spraying, everytime you spend 15 min. wiping it off. otherwise the spray will just get absorbed in the pants and the pants will smell.. moreover, its not healthy at all for the spray to keep coming in contact with our skin..

                Ravi anna ,

Hang a ball of wool somewhere around there. We can test the theory of "puss in boots".

This is totally OT. I have a pet/street cat. He is the type who wouldn't ever think of spoiling his precious bike seat by scratching. I can introduce him to to your seat spoiler. May be he could teach him/her some manners.

                    not healthy? Yeah true.
But there's no need to wipe it off, it'll evaporate till morning.

I spent 600 rupees for a good seat and it is destroyed. Using a bike cover is a solution, but its not very much practical to me and I don't like everyday putting it and removing it again in the morning.

I would like to know if anybody has any intuitive ideas other than using a bike cover.
i am putting cover and removing it all time when ever bike is removed for out and parked back to place from last 10 yrs for both my bikes.

I don't see any issues with this.

Try to keep rags soaked in turpentine near the bike when parking at night.
I did say chilli powder because that was the only other strong smelling substance I could think of at the time.
I also did mention Tiger balm (It also makes the seat shiny). If you are trying turpentine please ensure that it does not come in contact with the seat or paint it tends to damage them.
The reason that tiger balm works well is because it not only irritates the cat by its strong smell but also sticks to its skin.Cats lick themselves to clean their bodies.
Although the Tiger balm applied on the seat did not deter my cat immediately,he did spit all over after he licked himself on getting up.
Watching the cat spit allover the place to try to get the taste off his tongue was really entertaining.

Cats have strong memory and once they do something they keep repeating it.
So best thing to do is to scare it when it comes near your bike once , twice or even thrice. this runs a trace in its mind not to come to this particular area and wont come

                              Strange problem....!!!

Ask a seat cover fellow to stitch a dual layer rexine cover...in between the layers place two metal contacts connected to a 3v battery and a peizo buzzer ( turn indicator buzzer)...Once the cat sits on the seat the circuit is complete and the sound from the buzzer would be the distraction for the feline.

You can always remove the cover when you want to ride..

                              Good luck.

Soak the bike cover with dettol/savlon added and leave it for sometime before you rinse and drying it. Use the bike cover at night/parking for a long time, the hospital fragrance will keep them away. Simple!

OT: Cats love good soft seat for sharpening/shaping their nails. Experience.
