  • Average of my bike P220 reduced to very low after repair.

I met with an accident recently where a car violating red signal thrashed into my machine , fortunately i didnt get any major injuries but my babe(my P220) got.

after the insurance claim and repairs being done by bajaj workshop.

i found that mileage reduced to very low, not sure even below 10 km/litre.
where it was arnd 30-40 before this damage.

    first question:

whts the normal average we get with a new(3-4 months old 1st service done) P220.

    second question:
is there any way i can get that done in 2nd service without actually hampering the performance of my bike.

    please advise.

Please Give a call to BAL customer care on 1800 233 2453 and tell them the entire story exactly how everything happened.

As for your FE, it is absurdly low. Check for leaks if you can. Regular FE of a P220 before 1st service (i.e. still in Run-in) is over 40kmpl. This reduces post run-in since you start ripping more. But my personally observed FEs have been between 35-55kmpl depending upon how I ride.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

10kmpl Even the worst mileage I heard and read is >20kmpl!
Check the fuel station you fill. They may be stealing. Check for leaks.
For second service, instruct them seriously not to touch the carb.

Below 10KMPL , horrible I think a this kind of a small engine cant drink this much of fuel, you must change your petrol pump first and then check...

          Something is wrong!
I had an issue with a pump in Pune few months back:

When you ask them to fill 500, they will fill for 100 and stop, and will look at you. You will say, "I Said 500", he will show another "0" on display and will fill another 400 Rs fuel.
and You will pay 500. What you gets is 400 Rs petrol.

          What you can do:
Get the bill from pump equipment. They cant give you separate bills for 100 and 400 with time log because they have only one with 400.

Go to pump manager and ask computer report and bill.

If your problem is not this:

Post your complaint here> to get the issue fixed on next day day Bajaj.

Ans 1 : P220 has no consistent mileage since it was minted, 10 kmpl is not a surprise to me, this could be due to bad quality parts (and that of replaced parts) of bike. My friend sold off his P220 which was giving him just 12 kmpl (1.5 year old)

Ans2 : Complain to Bajaj before leaving your bike @ svc station, good luck

With a mileage figure so low, the main culprit could be the Exhaust manifold, check for any leaks or anything of that sort.

Cause a while back my Kiney(Post 2000) was returning only 7Kmpl and the mech found out the silencer to be the problem, so due to non availability of spared had to retro fit the pre 2000 model silencer and as soon as it was replaced the mileage leaped to a 45+Kmpl.

Mr, Vipin, Dont take it hard,

I have observed that you are here at xbhp just to be against Bajaj.
From your various posts in other threads as well I came to a conclusion that:

This must be because of any of the following.
                    • You are working for Hero
                    • You are a typical Hero Fan Boy
                    • You are appointed by hero for this purpose on this/multiple forums

Ok. forget it. whatever it is its not a concern. Sorry but I tried my best to avoid this.

                    Now to the thread starter,
                    Bro,

In my last 2.5+ years of ownership experience of 220 My bike returned 35-45 kmpl for regular use(including possible abuse).
When I was on most aggressive mountain jobs I used to get 30-35.

Thanks for the reply. But they do not have any need to do so since govt has given them good opportunity in the form of price difference between petrol and kerosene. If they were making Rs.5/lit. For mixing kerosene ten year back, you can guess the profit now.
The second weapon of choice is mis-calibrated meter. My doubt is they can apply the trick told by you between two successive customers by showing the second customer zero on the display. Please, forgive my argument I want solid clarification before kicking their Xss

A BP bunk guy did that. I got bad mileage after that and I knew something had gone wrong at the bunk only.
But seriously, how do they do it?

My story: i asked 500 bucks refill. He filled for hundred. As the mark slowly moved up from 0 to 100.. Then i yelled 500.. He filled 400 more.. When i asked e-bill,he gave me a handwritten bill, saying e-bill aint available at that meter but the other 2 issued it..
