bajaj discover not giving pickup and average

    bajaj discover not giving pickup and average

    Hi friends,

    I am facing very serious problem with my Bajaj Discover 112cc bike(2006 model), it' giving an average of 28kmpl and pickup up to 70 from last 8 months.. and till now it has just completed 35,000 km in total....

    it gets serviced on time along with oil change, got cluch plates changed 6 months back, piston and walves changed 2 months back..and still it's giving same problem..........

    plz help..

      It is not advisable to ride your Disco 100 at 70 KMPH. Max I would say is 55 - 60. Beyond that, the engine gets strained a lot and the bike does not have enough dough to stop without giving a heart attack.

      Now moving to the mileage issue, did you check the carb setting? Where do you service? Do you do a mileage check at the service center?

        It's time to sell the bike and buy a new one. Go for discover 125 this time. I am sure bajaj will give a good offer on the old bike.

          piston & valves changed?? You mean a rebore work, right or is it piston & valve change only?
          Anyways, either will need run-in for engine to set in, i hope you performed that.
          Have you consulted your mechanic about the issues you are facing?
          Any other observation like poor starting, poor idle or something?

            Thanks for your valuable suggestion friends, it's realy appreciated...

            Rharish, i normally ride my bike( discover 112 cc) at the speed of 50 - 55, however the problem is that it doesn't go more that 70 and earlier approx 8 months back the speed use to go up to 90.

            and bro, yes i got the carburater settings checked by my local mechanic, he said it's fine. As my local mechanic was not able to resolve the issue i got it checked from other mechanics..and ever others were not able to resolve...

            i check the mileage from reserve to reserve basis and 8 months back my bike use to give an average of approx 55 kmpl....

            and Honda_CBF, after piston and walve work my mechanic adviced me that once you will cover next 500 km on your bike at the speed of 40 after that your issue will be resolved most probably...

            however, now it has covered 1500 km and the problem is same...

            other observation is that gears are hard to change and sometime they also make some type of "kad kad" sound at the time of changing gears.....

              @Ravi, Does the Discover 112 have a tachometer? Because I had a Caliber 115 in the past (which is practically same as a Discover 112) and that one did. If it does, maybe I can help.

                Take it to a Bajaj service center and get a mileage check done there. They will take 100 ml petrol and see how far your bike can go on that. Then adjust the carb accordingly. Then retest. Try this.

                  how's your clutch? Is it slipping? How's the pick up? How's the engine heat, much more than earlier? And what where the parts & work you got done exactly? Was the cylinder bore changed or re-bored? Here I'm suspecting a bad engine job and/or worn out clutch. I suggest get a compression test done and report back.

                    hey friend please do check your fluid pin in carburetor this small little pin is key role to mix fuel to your engine as my one of mine friends pulsar 200 fluid pin has gone and his avg is gone to 8km/l now he has replace it and his avg is back up to 50km/l..

                    So please do check your fluid pin

                            ^ yup that's the thing i mentioned as fuel valve. which controls petrol flow to the float bowl.
