  • Modify new rr150 (Unicorn dazzler)

    Hello everyone,
I have a brand new Honda Rr150, which is just a re-badged Honda Unicorn dazzler made by Honda Wuyang ( I live in Vietnam but this bike is rare here and nobody here knows much about it). There may be some small differences between the version here and the one in India (mine redlines 9-10k revs and I think in India its 11k. May be related to fuel quality..) but they are virtually identical. I'm posting here due to the broad knowledge in India about this bike.

There's no warranty to speak of here, and I want to make some performance mods so I can go right ahead with this.

Before you ask, I can't buy a higher displacement bike due to the laws here in Vietnam getting very tricky after 150cc. Taxes, police bribes etc make it not worthwhile. The Dazzler Unicorn is the best bike I could find that fits within the laws here. Additionally I love the look of the bike and want to stay with it

So my question is: What mods can I make that will increase performance but not seriously affect longevity of parts, reliability and lifespan of the bike?
I'm happy to lose a little fuel efficiency though.
I know there's a lot of advice out there, but I also read that for brand new bikes, anything other than stock is generally not a good thing.
So when giving advice, please bear in mind the bike is brand new, and I want advice for the best kind of performance mods specific to this motorbike, but without increasing overall wear and tear too much.

So far the only two pieces of solid advice anyone has been able to give me for performance mods which are a straight upgrade and good for a new bike, are a new chain sprocket to give better acceleration, and a low restriction exhaust and air filter.

I'm confused on the low restriction exhaust air-filter thing though. They tell me the bike will have to be re-tuned afterwards, but I don't understand why this is the case with a 4-stroke. Backpressure isn't required for scavenging and drawing fuel through in a 4-stroke as far as I know, so I'm not sure why I have to re-tune the engine after making these mods.

Could someone explain this to me as well as make some other suggestions? Thanks

      visit :.Welcome To Race Concepts.:

joel has made a kit for the dazzler, if you search through the forum you'll be able to find a video of the acceleration also.

he's one of the most famous bike modifiers in india

Thanks very much. Ill have a look shortly for that (im on my phone at the moment). But i think i may have seen that video already. Are you referring to a bore kit? If so ive heard that its not recommended for new bikes. Anyway thanks heaps for the reference

Re: Modify new rr150 (Unicorn dazzler)

          Hello everyone,
Does anybody have any experience doing upgrades on the dazzler?
I have installed a 223cc Cylinder head which gives the bike a lot more power.
I have added an oil cooler to deal with increased heat and only use high grade oil since the engine is running above spec.
Also have a low restriction yoshimura pro exhaust to deal with increased airflow. It still makes some pretty huge pops and flames come out the back regularly.
I think the version sold in Vietnam must have a very short gearing because my motorbike used to redline in 5th at 95/100km/h.
So I've changed to a 17 tooth front sprocket and a slightly larger diameter rear wheel. This helps to keep me cruising on highway at 100km/h and redline at 125km/h.
Does anybody have any further suggestions for improvements? I really love the look of this bike so I don't want to buy a different one. I was thinking about changing the front tyre too to make up for the changed geometry. Also an upgraded chain to deal with the increased power.
Finally, I'm most interested in what engines I could easily swap into this chassis. Does anybody have any experience with this? It would be great to put a proper 250cc/300cc engine in here with a longer gear ratio, rather than the current one.
          I appreciate your input.

I think engine used in Karizma should be a direct fit in that frame, but you have to find out what bike from Honda used that engine in your country.

                  Just an honest advice.

You would get a lot more responses if you posted in the dazzler thread.

It was moved here by admin several years ago. Where should it be? Could somebody move it again if its in wrong place?
