I have a brand new Honda Rr150, which is just a re-badged Honda Unicorn dazzler made by Honda Wuyang ( I live in Vietnam but this bike is rare here and nobody here knows much about it). There may be some small differences between the version here and the one in India (mine redlines 9-10k revs and I think in India its 11k. May be related to fuel quality..) but they are virtually identical. I'm posting here due to the broad knowledge in India about this bike.
There's no warranty to speak of here, and I want to make some performance mods so I can go right ahead with this.
Before you ask, I can't buy a higher displacement bike due to the laws here in Vietnam getting very tricky after 150cc. Taxes, police bribes etc make it not worthwhile. The Dazzler Unicorn is the best bike I could find that fits within the laws here. Additionally I love the look of the bike and want to stay with it
So my question is: What mods can I make that will increase performance but not seriously affect longevity of parts, reliability and lifespan of the bike?
I'm happy to lose a little fuel efficiency though.
I know there's a lot of advice out there, but I also read that for brand new bikes, anything other than stock is generally not a good thing.
So when giving advice, please bear in mind the bike is brand new, and I want advice for the best kind of performance mods specific to this motorbike, but without increasing overall wear and tear too much.
So far the only two pieces of solid advice anyone has been able to give me for performance mods which are a straight upgrade and good for a new bike, are a new chain sprocket to give better acceleration, and a low restriction exhaust and air filter.
I'm confused on the low restriction exhaust air-filter thing though. They tell me the bike will have to be re-tuned afterwards, but I don't understand why this is the case with a 4-stroke. Backpressure isn't required for scavenging and drawing fuel through in a 4-stroke as far as I know, so I'm not sure why I have to re-tune the engine after making these mods.
Could someone explain this to me as well as make some other suggestions? Thanks
