Re: Bad experience with HH karizma R
hi brothers.i too got an almost similar problem to what was being discussed in this thread here.
my bike has no problems during the mornings when i start it starts just with a click of switch and after a minute of engaging my choke lever it gets a lil warm and all ready and set to go.. the pick up ,speed and smoothness is just awesome. But after a ride of say suppose a 10k or more the engine gets very heated up (dont know the reason) and then start the problems:
1. Major problem- there is a metallic sound coming from the engine (which i think is mostly the crank rod) during my driving in traffic or revving in lower rpms.
2. Engine gets very hot ...
3. The pick up,sound of engine ,smooth ness all become worse .. its is as if the bike is indirectly telling me a no ....
4. The gear box seems to be a harder..
with regard to this i nearly spent a 2.5 k . i changed my valves, tightned my tappets, checked my piston and it was fine since no white smoke came. Also cleaned my carburetor.. also i asked the mechanic if there is any clutch bell issue he told nothing as such... the important point here is all these occurs as a result of engine being over heated ....
i am really in a mess and fuzzed at the moment .. Felling very low esteem .. i need help . i stay in hyderabad .9032314437 . Please help me guys .....

Re: Bad experience with HH karizma R
Hello,
I recently joined the community, though i have been following the threads posted on various topics for a while now.
After a few month's wait and deciding between a new Honda Hornet 160R or a used Zma R(have been a fan of it since launch), i have finally zeroed in on a white 2014 used Zma R(Outgoing/Old Version) that has done 9000+ on the odo. It needs a little care though(a new handle bar, oil change, etc).
I did visit the owner and checked the bike out along with a trusted mechanic(who approved the buy) i know here in Pune today. I will be collecting the bike first thing in the morning right after which i will be dropping it at the mechanic's for all the TLC it needs.
The petrol tank has a dent on the right hand side which is hardly visible from a distance of 2 metres+ but i will be taking care of that by either denting or replacing the tank.
I have prepared a list of TO DOs on the bike tomorrow as follows,
1. Replace handle bar
2. Replace visor(has an unwanted sticker on it and i hate it)
3. Check and replace spark plugs if needed
4. Check and replace air filter if needed
5. Top it up with some 20W40 engine oil
6. Adjust AFR
7. Check, tighten and lube the chain if needed
I appreciate any and all suggestions from all. Do advise if i am missing on any thing to look out for on the To Do list!

I went with cash to collect the bike but the kind gentleman had no papers to produce.
The bike was in a decent condition with no physical damages, however, i think he lied about the papers being available coz he had 2 days to produce the papers and failed stating that he does not want to sell the bike anymore.
This really upset me, i am back on a hunt for a decent used R now. Hopefully, will find one soon.

Wise decision, not to go for a bike whose papers are not available.Originally posted by Lego View Post@ajextreme

Other than regular papers, keep in mind to ask for the service book and the user manual.
The service book will tell you if the owner was punctual and did all the services on time, which in turn will give you a lot of info on the health of the bike.
A bike regularly serviced will be in much better health than the one that is ignored or delayed or skipped a service or 2.
The service book will also contain info on any parts that have been replaced or changed, that will make the decision even more easy. For example if a fork or headlight assembly has been replaced during the service, you will know that it had been in some accident.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Bad experience with HH karizma R
I met this guy with a black Karizma R 2013 model, that has 10000+ on the odo today.
The bike seems to be decent except a few minor scratches.
I have asked him to come up with the RC, TC, bike invoice, owner's manual, service book by tomorrow evening.

Hey buddy, i purchased a black Zma r finally, a couple of dsys ago for 54k. Had 9000+ on the odo, a May 2013 model.
I am from Pune.
Did the basic servicing that cost me 3,400/- including engine oil change, brake fluid, etc.
I filled it up with Shell Advance A7 10W30 semi synthetic and planning to upgrade to 20W40 fully synthetic when i service it next.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
can anybody advise me on putting another bike's brake pads on the Zma?
I read on one of the forums that apache's brake pads are a straight fit to the Zma!!

Re: Bad experience with HH karizma R
Apache RTR brakepads are direct fit... First fit them and check. they are thicker, so ask the mechanic to rub them on rough surface so that they will fit perfectly.Originally posted by Lego View PostHey buddy, i purchased a black Zma r finally, a couple of dsys ago for 54k.
