Exactly, for me..Whenever the bike is in neutral and clutch leaver is released...The sound is changed. My friend (mechanic) suggested me to change the Clutch Bell. I'm planning to ride with same condition for few kms, as the clutch plates and pressure plates are weakened N due to change....

      Hi,

I have a R15 v2 2012 model. I also have issues with the clutch bell.
What is the cost of the clutch bell and what other parts will be replaced with it?
The guys at SVC are charging Rs.5000+ to change that.
Is the clutch bell covered under warranty?

Please do help me with this as I think the SVC is try to cheat me.

This issue is there prominently in all the R15s. But it is nothing to worry about apart from Vibration and Noise. In my 95K +kms I have got it replaced once at around 45k and so far its going good. You need to learn to live with it......

          @escaflowne

The Clutch bell will cost approx 1600 - 1700. Part no:
3C1E61500000 PRIMARY DRIVEN GEAR COMP. Also, change the primary gear. it is just below the clutch bell. Approx cost 650 rs

Now the prblem is I took the sample of my clutch bell to the parts show and he gave me the bell with four clutch plates. However, my R15 has got 5 clutch plates. Can anyone please share the no plates in their Clutch bell. I'm going to get back my clutch bell and try to locate in Yamaha spares. Will update soon with more information.

            Update on Clutch bell.

I was unable to locate R15 V1 clutch bell; hence, upgraded it to V2 clutch bell. Now due to this, I had to change Clutch hub center. Lastly, I realized that Clutch spring and bolts also, needs to be changed. Now, I'm unable to locate new spring of V2. I'll get back with more updates once its complete.

Did any of the R15 owners changed their clutch bell. I'm still unable to locate the spring. I spent around 3600 rs for clutch plate, pressure place, clutch hub & clutch bell. Now only spring is remaining.

Hey man thanks for posting .
Which model is your R15? I mean 20P1-20P2-38B1, like that.
Mine is 20P1 and went to yamaha godown ,they didn't had 20P series 5 plate clutches and were trying to give me the 4 plate ones. Also they said it will be available as total assembly of clutch bell thing, hub, plates, pushrod and that mechanism which connect with the clutch cable + a lot of other small stuffs at around 5k of total cost. And they will have to order it, won't know how long will that take.

And regarding springs, why can't you just use the old springs?. Okay, I agree if you are spending 3-4k on new parts then why left out springs. But if you can't find the OEM ones, you can use the old ones, I am sure they are good enough because I have never heard that someone had to change their clutch springs because they went bad or something, though they might have upgraded to stiffer ones.
                Or there is a way.
Indiaspares.in, I am thinking to order parts from here. They are quite genuine as few other members have ordered and received their 15's spares. Seems like they have it in stock.

                And one more thing,
Can you please upload the photos of parts you got?
That would help me and other 'searchers' a ton and give us a huge heads up.

                Thanks a ton.

Tanmay26@The reason I want change spring coz the old wont fit in. They are big; however, new version has got smaller spring. I inquired at Planet Yamaha in Gurukul and found they have the clutch spring. I'll be going der today to get that.

Mine one is Yellow 2010 v1. I dont know abt series.

                  Now lets start from here.

                  First I got

                  Clutch bell - 1pc
                  ClutCh Plates - 4pcs
                  Pressure Plates. - 3pcs
                  Primary Gear - 1pc
                  (images shown above)

When we tried to install it, we discovered that hub center wont fit in. hence, we returned the cluct plates & pressure plates and got the whole set with hub center. PLZ IGNORE THE PLATES SHOWN IN IMAGES, AS I HAD TO RETURNED IT. Now I got R15 plates. All came in Seperate packing. I'll Try to upload the pic of packing.

I'm going to get the springs, Bolt and a bearing today. I'll upload the pics soon.

Hey I just read you are from ahmedabad. In gurukul, I assume you are talking about the godown, underground a bit, with petal suzuki and opposite A-one school, right?

Good that you have 2010 series, it has 4 plate clutch bro. They tried to feed me 4 plate ones too but mine is 5 plate series.
And series is basically starting of the chassis number.
20P1, 20P2, 38B1, blah blah. Basically year of manufacture, thats it.

                      @Tanmay26

Yes, the same Godown nr Petal suzuki.

Now, I discovered some strange about my Bike. If you can clear my confusion.

The above pic clearly states my Bike is V1. But I discovered that the company fitted Clutch bell was of Version 2. Previously, it had 4 plates. But My friend installed the fifth one. So how it is possible that V1 has got company fitted V2 Clutch set.

The pics of the above mentioned parts are of V1.

Also, please don't buy the Clutch bell from website. First, check the bell you've already installed in your bike. Take a same to Yahmaha and then buy it.

I made a mistake and ended up spending 3500 +.

I went to Karnavati at Kankaria and mentioned that I had V1. He gave me all the set of V1 and Now I discover that the bike had V2 set installed.

Now, I'm still waiting for the SPRING which will arrive by a week. The person Ganpat bhai and the other guy working in Gurukul spares were very helpful.

I'll post the pic of V2 clutch bell. Its bit different and cheaper than V1.

From what I read you seem to be under impression that all v1s come with 5 plate clutches and all v2s are with 4 plate ones. That is not the case there mate.

You see, that is why I asked you your series number. Only R15 in 20P1 series comes with 5 plates. So now, what is this series thing? Series is basically what is starting of chassis or engine number. My engine number would be like 20P1xxxxx and yours would be like 38B1xxxxx.

                        Year manufacture series
                        2008 20P1
                        2009 20P2
                        2010 38B1

This if for our ridden v1s, n v2 the series is like 1CK2, 1CK3 and so on, you can refer to in indiaspares.in
So company yamaha had fitted 5 plate clutch in 20P1 2008 models, and revised to 4 plate clutch in 2010 models, that one came out with already 4 plates from factory. Its basically same looking on outside, but when they revised it, they did made some changes, i.e. clutch.

If those petal guys knows this series which most of them I assume should, try asking them to get you 38B1 clutch assembly. This will give you and them exact base on who is asking what and what to get.

Thanks for the detailed information about series. This will help me to buy the parts in future.

Current situation: The bike is still idle and waiting for spring. In the meantime, my mechanic (friend) got the old Clutch bell repaired (from the lathe work). We'll we be installing the same old bell and complete assembly for the time being. Once I get the spring, I'll upgrade the whole assembly.

I'll post the pic, as soon as I'm home.

That is precisely why I don't like to visit SVC and learned everything myself. I met with a stoppie crash last year and they quote me 22k estimate on insurance. It was really idiotic of them to expect that the surveyor would pass that amount. Plus they kept me waiting for 15 long days to get fairing set from that gurukul godown. Even after that I had to find out that they could only replace fairing of one side and not on the other. It is mostly my primary vehicle on weekends, I 'need' it.
That is why I asked for photos, so that I can get exact spares and finish off the work smoothly in little time instead of putting it idle.

And what happened to your clutch bell? I mean what did your friend do on lathe exactly?

The problem with this bell was.... When I used to release the clutch in Neutral, I can hear a strange sound. After removing the bell we found, there was a PLAY between the bell part and the gear part (2nd img). I dont know how to explain this.. But if you hold this bell and twist it otherside.. I mean Aluminuim on different side and Gear part on different side...They were moving a diffrent bit...Thats what I call it as PLAY....

As you can see in the second image..... back gear is connected to bell with the help of Revet. Between this revet there is a Rubber, which were worned out. He simply replaced those rubbers and fixed the Revet with the help of Lathe work. NOW THERE IS NO PLAY IN IT.

This was done earlier too....but it only lasted for few months....So we decided to change the bell it self....

May be today or Tommorow we will be fitting it back...the same old repaired one....Once I get the spring we'll install the new one....

I'll keep you updated on this....

Coming to your Bike...Id suggest to remove the bell and take it as a sample...it will be easier to buy...Clutch bell for V2 will cost 1600 and V1 1000 rs. Do you have pic of your Clutch bell??

Also, when you go to buy this...Take clutch hub center, both the plates along...Just to make sure you're buying the correct bell...

That is precisely what I am going to do.
As soon as I get enough money in my wallet, I would open up the clutch and take it up to the godown. I will note part numbers and all.
So basically problem lies in the clutch bell (that is the rubber in there), so I don't have to buy the clutch hub thing and that friction-steel plates right?
I am assuming replacing a clutch bell and the primary gear in mesh from crankshaft side would be more than enough to eradicate the problem.

That is all I wanted to know, now I can get to work as know exactly what is going where and how.
                                Thanks a ton mate.
