Re: upgrading headlight of pulsar 180 UG4

    Hello xbhp 's,

Please help me in this Im having pulsar 150 UG4.5 2013 model ,The system is full DC 35watts headlight 35/35
Even though checking all the thread i cant get the results for my doubts

now i want to upgrade this stock with Osram Night breaker 55/60watts bulb including 2 spot light 15watts each *2

So my total power requirement is
    Headlight = 60watts
    Spot light 15watts*2 = 30watts
other accessories like taillamp, indicator, number plate, break light i dont know how much they will consume
but approximately i think i need in 100-110watts so now please how to achive those what are all the changes i need to do .

is avenger 180 stator coil part number DV 111005 will fit in my bike post telling that it only for AC setup bikes since my bike is full DC

my mechanic told me it will burst your CDI however we can use additional switch for this i didnt understand what he is telling

please help me thanks in advance friends

hi friends recently upgraded headlamp of my pulsar ug4.5 2010 model to philips night vision plus 55/60 w and pilots and number plate bulb to 28smd led.No problems so far in short run. Checked voltage at 3000 rpm
      with low beam-13.5-6v
      with high beam -13.34v
Is it Ok?, Can stock wiring support this set up in long drives?

The stock wires can handle the load easily. I'm using the setup for more than a year and even the reflector is good till date. The voltage is good imo. The battery, under load and engine running, voltage must be higher than the battery no load voltage and that's it. Based on my observations, keeping the engine rpm above 2.5k will ensure the battery is not discharging during headlight usage.

Hey bro, based on rough calculations, the alternator for pulsar is designed for around 65-70w of total usage. Each pilot and number plate bulb takes 5w each. Under stock conditions, the total load would be around 50w. Changing the pilots and number plate bulb with leds can reduce from 15w to <1w. This is the current setup on my bike with a 60/55w bulb.
Considering your requirements, I'd advise you to use 35/35w bulb for headlight instead of 60/55w and use the spotlights along with them. Change all pilots and number plate bulb to leds. Even then, you'd have to make sure the engine is above around 3-4k rpm to ensure the battery is not overloaded. This is considering you wish to keep the rest of the bike stock. If 60/55w is a requirement along with spotlights, you'd have to rewind the stator coil and change the regulator unit. I haven't touched the stock wiring so I have no idea on rewinding the coil. Avy coil was possible only in ug3 version iirc. If you know anyone who has knowledge on rewinding coil and regulators and ready to face any consequences, go ahead with the rewinding. Else stick to stock and use spotlights on separate circuit from the battery. Hope this clears few doubts on the topic.

My bike ug4 with bcu. Both ug4 and ug4.5 are same except for the bcu and its related wiring. So no worries about the headlight. Do check the headlight alignment though. I found mine was changed after the bulb was changed.
