  • [Help]: Wobbling situation in Bajaj Discover 125 DTSi

    Dear all,

I am facing a peculiar situation with my Discover 125 DTSi. I brought the bike in January 2013. From the day i got the delivery i am facing a issue of wobbling when i try to cross 50kmph on highway. If i deccelerate back to lesser speed, wobbling is reduced. Can anybody please help me in this regard. Currently my bike has crossed 2000km till date.

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Does your wheel wobble and handlebar remains stable or both the handlebar and the wheels wobble?
Check the tyre pressures. If the pressures are ok, then there may be a problem with your forks or your steering coneset or bearings.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

yesterday i took my bike to the service center and they checked all the parameters and confirmed that rear tyre had a manufacturing defect. they have given a letter to tvs tyres showroom to change the tyre. hope that solves the problem. when riding handlebar is stable and only the vibration is heavy when i try to cross 50kmph and until 60kmph.

Hope the problem gets solved. Or else do get the Handle cone set checked as mentioned above, Next thing to create the problem might be a defective wheel bearing.
Do get it checked it the bike still creates a problem after changing tyre.

My friend also faced the same issue with his rear tyre
It was due to manufacturing defect of rear tyre
Don't worry it's the fault of tyre only
I think your tyre was euro grip
If you are still not satisfied after changing the tyres
Then ask the showroom to swap it with mrf
But since your bike has clocked 2000kms it is unlikely they will do that...
I was too given eurogrip as factory fitted tyre
But I mentioned it to the dealer that I will take delivery only if get mrf..!!
Tvs tyres are mostly hard compound tyres whereas Mrf's being soft compound provide a better grip..

I too had faced an issue with the eurogrips on my NS. After 8000km, i noticed that the rear tyre was getting deformed.. It took a week for the TVS engineer to inspect the tyre and give the report confirming that it is a manufacturing defect. Once i got the report, it took me 3 days to get the replacement tyre.

In addition i had to pay around 300-500 for tyre wear due to usage.

The sad part was that the tyre dealer did not have the equipment to remove the tyre from the rim.. Had to get it done from a local tyre-walla for 100 and he ruined the black paint on the rims

then i think i should change the total tyre set now from TVS to michelin set. i saw the same on changemytyre.com

                      image is as below.

I never said change the tyres

Sharing some thought why I am still on the stock eurogrips on my NS (total 12000km so far).. They are ok for daily driving.. i have touched 140 on straights and taken corners at pretty high speeds (not in traffic) and i found the eurogrips working fine..

                        Eurogrips
Cons - Low grip in wet, prone to skidding under hard breaking
Pros - Harder compound, so might u a longer tyre life and less prone to punctures

                        Other soft compounds
Pros - better grip (dont know about grip in wet conditions)
Cons - Lower tyre life, more prone to punctures (based on feedback from r15 owners)

Note: I have not driven an NS with MRF/PSD so i cannot comment on how much better they are as compared to the stock tyres.. If i do get a chance, and find them to be a huge improvement, i will upgrade immediately..

Please be more specific, I don't know what you mean by 'drag' from the engine ...?
Does your bike seems reluctant to go above 60?
Does it feel like your bike is out of petrol and jerks while accelerating :??

Please post some symptoms so that we can narrow down the areas of concern ...

Engine sputters whenever i try to cross 60kmph on an empty road. and it behaves like it doesnt like to cross 60kmph and slight wobbling condition starts to show up. is this condition related to carburetor or anything related to petrol quantity getting to the engine? please guide me in this regard.
