My holy goodness !! 7L Kms ? You are the "Pro" Man !!
*Sigh* Now by reading all your comments, you are making me feel like why did I get an Avenger ! :'(
dude, no matter what bike you have, if you spend time with her, understand her, then you will surely fall in love with her and you will simply enjoy that feeling. And then you will say to her "its ok my love, nobody is perfect, even in bikes"
and thats true love.
Not all who wander are Lost
Respect the bicycle riders, they are the ones who save fuel for you rides.
And if you buying ninja 650, i have got to meet you . i guess it will cost around 5.3L (as the showroom guy 'rohan' told me)
Yeah. Am planning to invest in a Ninja 650
I was told by ProBiking sales rep that:
INR. 5.47L is the cost.
INR. 40K was the booking amount.
Waiting period = 100 ~ 120 days [WTF!!!]
Decided to book it in early phases of July, so its delivered by late September, after the monsoon subsides.

Hopefully it would serve me well, for the 1000kms (two way) tour which i would be doing next month.
I would probably use it for a year or two, and get something else (thats why, I got a second hand)
Anyways, would you have an idea as to why would Bajaj detune the Avenger to such an extent?
Hopefully, i will sell it off / gift it to one of my cousins before I stop feeling this way.
I consider myself more of a daily commuter with twice a month weekend outstation riding, rather than a pro-biker. I seldom ever cross 70kmph as the bike becomes real hairy beyond that.
I get my ride serviced every 120 days, no matter what - whether i've ridden it or whether its parked. If i've been on her for a long ride, i drop her off @ service immediately once i am back in town.
I guess Bajaj has detuned it intentionally so it doesnt bite in to the Pulsar's domain of function - else its the exact same engine on these 2 bikes.
Also, its sheer weight acts against its dynamics & agility - but thats a set-off u got to live with for what it is.
Mind u, Avenger is by no means a BAD choice... I dont mean that... all I mean is, there are other better more sensible choices available :-)

True that. Its a relation hard to define but very easy to comprehend.
Out on the open road & in the wilderness, while there is nobody u know around u, there is only 1 thing u trust with ur life & ur instincts... thats ur ride.
U love & respect ur ride & the ride will love & respect u back! :-)

A girl from the same showroom named vijaya said that, though we say the waiting is for 90 days, but in 95% cases, the delivery is made in 60-65 days.
As when i had enquired for ninja 300 for a friend this gone monday, they said the waiting period is 45 days, but when i insisted that i want it as soon as possible, the fat guy with ugly specs named rohan said that you can get the delivery on 28-30th april.
So thats just 20 days i guess.
Oh i wish if i could buy that 300cc monster in white, but money constraints, would anyone like to contribute?

Lol.
That's rather strange.
I spoke to a lady there n told her I will pay full amount as a lump sum in cash if she delivers the 650 in a week or two.
She politely denied n maintained the 120 days condition
Hence decided to book it in monsoon instead

Whoa, i mean 20 days instead of 45 days for N300r, and she said it wont take 90 days, it would take 60-65 days for the N650r.
And i guess its a good idea to book in monsoons, as the rains will be almost over when u get the beast.
got the following done to my avenger 200 today
1. replace sprocket assembly - check [prolly the 7th time in last 5+ yrs - lol]
2. replace accelerator cable - check
3. replace clutch cable - check
4. fix the excessive play on front disc-brake - check
5. engine flush - check
6. T-bar & setting - check
7. replace spark-plug - check
8. air filter thorough cleanup - check
9. carb setting + tweak - check
10. replace rear brake-pads - check
11. replace & top-up all fluids - check
she didnt seem all that old when i cranked her up after all this! ;-)
the old hag still has a few sorties under her belt before she rests prolly!
mahabaleshwar... i am coming!!!
You are the one whose comments I use to read every single day.. I thruly respect you.. Agree with whatever you said.. But just top speed issue I clocked 140 kmph on my 2012 Avy 220....She is maska to ride in speeds of 100-110 kph.. But she dose heats up in city..
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
I just changed my oil from Castrol Power 1 to Motul 3100.. Bike seems loving it.. Pick up Increased, Butter smooth gear shifting.. But she is heating more than normal, even after 10 kms riding I can feel steams from engine.. Kindly suggest... P.S. I am using Avy 220
140kmph on 2012 Avenger is neat... i know a few fellow 220 owners who comfortably go above & beyond 100kmph on it.
mine is a 200cc & pretty old now... i.m.h.o. the engine vibes above 80kmph are unruly & i feel that its unfair to stress the bike beyond that for fear of dear life.
as for ur bike heating up - guess u need to get her checked @ a pro-biking service to ensure that the radiator is working as expected & that ur air filter is clean & healthy.
so long as the viscosity of the oil is matching the one that's recommended, it really should not matter what brand one uses.
changing from mineral oil to synthetic or viceversa seems to impact the smoothness but that is only a matter of perception.
some people swear by castrol & others by motul & even some others by mobil.
really doesnt matter...
yes, but do use a good brand of chain cleaner & chain lube to periodically clean & lube ur chain - that will make it ride even smoother. as far as possible use a dry-grease [wurth / 3m / etc.] - motul lubes are, to my mind, too watery & are dust-magnets!
