And at this time level on dipsticlk is exactly between min & max mark.C) Yes, I do check the oil level using dipstick every fortnight, and then only I came to know that bike is consuming oil.
Looks like oil rings are gone but compression rings are alright so bike is not smoking, but consuming oil. And regarding oil then let me add that if you drain by properly tilting right and left then to bring it to level on dipstick 1 liter of oil is required rather than 900 ml. Even i have drained more than 1 litre and that is the reason i drain at home rather than service center because they use Hero oil, next they simply drain by opening drain bolt and thus 900 ml is enough but that oil mixes with old oil and thus gets easily damaged quickly. When i drain at home even 1 liter falls short of max mark in dip stick. For your problem i would advice you to wait and watch and keep eye on oil level every seven days. Let it run till bike smokes. Also check the front sprocket oil seal as its leakage is difficult to catch as oil will go to chain and thus will look like oil dripping from chain.

Once he does engine flush bike will start smoking, so stay away from flush because they contain harsh detergents which will rob the engine of lubricant film. Instead change to Hero oil and drain it after 800 km, your engine will get flushed and also no tension of chemicals from flush.

Re: CBZ Xtreme consuming engine oil

Thanks a lot Sibun for your prompt revert. If only oil rings have gone bad, then should I replace the complete ring set to ensure engine life. What are the other components which should be checked during ring replacement.

Always replace piston rings as set. It doesn't matter which ring has gone kaput, they need to be changed as set.
        I am back!

Meanwhile is there any Xbhpian who has faced the same issue.
I'm really worried and need some solution to sort this out.

Me too own a CBZ xtreme and facing the same issue after switching to shell advanced ultra 10W40. And there is no proof of any oil leak and engine is running fine despite of low oil levels as the level decreases rapidly and also there is no smoke from the exhaust. I am thinking of switching to motul now.
If you worried about falling off the bike, you'd never get on.

Keep topping up with mineral oil. Next time dont put SS or FS oils, your bike's piston is not in its best of health.

Re: CBZ Xtreme consuming engine oil

Should I go for some thicker grade of engine oil such as 20w40 instead of 10w30/10w40.

hi,, someone please help i am new to this site and i don't know how to post a question here. i own a hero xtreme and its 5000km run, last week i changed oil, mistakenly servo 4t sj20w.. something was used as new. then only i noticed that the recommended oil was 10w30, and also my bike was not acting good this one week. i will change the oil but my doubt is, should i do something to clean the entire old servo oil or can i just empty and pour the hero 10w30 oil? if any other better oils please suggest. i run daily min of 20km and max of 40km. city running, avg speed of 50-70 kmph.

Re: CBZ Xtreme consuming engine oil

                      Hi,
This is not such a big issue. Many people do use 20w40 in Hero bikes as well, but it makes the acceleration a bit sluggish.

I'd suggest you to simply drain this oil and refill with a good 10w30 oil.
Before draining the old oil, drive your bike for 2-3 kms, so that engine becomes warm which helps in draining the oil completely.

Currently I'm using Gulf Pride 4T Synth 10w30 oil, which is really good. Alternatively you can also use Gulf Pride 4T Plus 10w30 oil, which is also fine

You engine is new with 5000 km on odo. So never use any 20w40 grade unless your engine is somewhat old like 20000+. So drain it.

Stick to any good 10w30 motorcycle oil except hero(its crap) till 10000kms then start using 10w40 semisynthetic.
Your bike will feel the most smooth

Re: CBZ Xtreme consuming engine oil

I am using catrol power 1 mineral 10w 30 grade the recommended as per manual... but as per my experience. 900 ml is too less ,, you have to fill in 1000 ml in normal drain and in case of full drain (i.e. wen u open crankcase for cleaning centrifugal filter etc..) you have to fill 1150 ml....
Note: even if you fill 1000 ml oil (normal drain), and you intend to run it for 2000 km you have to top up at least 70 ml oil the time u complete 1000 km... there is a drop in oil level since the engine is air cooled...

clocked 39000 km in my CBZ.. with slight tappet sounds..

                            CBZ Xtreme Engine Oil Recommendation

                            Hi,

I have 2009 CBZ Xtreme which has clocked 50k+ KMs. Till date I have given the bike to showroom for service but somehow I'm unhappy with the way they are servicing. I'm planing to change the oil. Please suggest a good oil & grade for the bike.
                            Thanks in advance.

All these oils are of 10w30 grade.

Because my P220 has a similar problem with no white smoke so not sure its the piston rings gone bad or just some leak
