• Viro Motorcycle Disc Lock - Any feedback ?

Hi All,

Hope I am posting this in the correct section.

I am looking out for a disc lock for my cbr250, and have zeroed in upon this item available through Snapdeal:

Viro - Alert Bike Alarm Disc Lock

Would appreciate if anyone has any views/experience regarding this product ? Prima facie product specs and price looked pretty good, and is available easily through snapdeal within a few days of order.

Thanks very much
Srinivas

The normal disc lock(viro hammer) is being used by a friend from long time, he too ordered from snapdeal.Product quality is nice, much better than chinese disc locks available in market.

budget constraints, nothing else

In fact am mulling whether a normal once without the alarm will be sufficient, but my fear is that some joker may try to move the bike without realising there is a disc lock in place..

Hi Srini! I am glad you are trying to secure your bike as much as possible. However, is it necessary on that price band? Just give it a thought bro... Would you bend over every time to lock and unlock the disc that too making sure they are aligned to the disc holes to match the lock? And if not you need to move the bike back and forth to align it? How many times would you do this everyday? Are you planning to use it only when you park it at your house? Does this product cover warranty? Did you consider the risk factors just in case the device breaks down?

Srini, please pardon my ignorance on this 4k worth gadget. If I were you I would not go for it. I guess you could use the same money for some other useful purpose either for bike upgrades or to upgrade yourself like matching shades/boots/HID/helmet/clothing, etc,. etc., and try taking a look at this and put a 3M reflective sticker on it so that the culprit knows something is rigged to the bike. Again, I am sorry if this sounds negative. I just thought of putting down my thoughts.

petrolhead - thanks for your views. The price for this is more like INR 23xx/-, and part of the reason am willing to look at it. I thought it safer to buy one with the alarm because of 2 reasons:

- prevent accidental movement of bike when locked
- bring attention to whoever sets it off

I will use this at night while parking at my house (My night watchman sleeps very soundly throughout the night ) Also, thought such a lock will be especially useful while we are out of town on vacation. Should also be useful when in new places/touring as well. Am unlikely to use it while shopping / errands / or at office.

Snapdeal has shipped my order, and expect to receive it by 6th. Will post a review here once I am able to use it for a while.

Here's hoping for the best !!

Bumping! so what is the feedback of this product? I am looking to get one for the 390!
