  • Possibility of attaching a digital console on a discover 125 st?

I own a discover 125 st. It has a fully analog console minus a tachometer. I however hate this console. Mainly because of it's lack of tachometer. Another bad thing is that it is very very dimly lit. Speedo needle has no light of it's own, i.e it doesn't have an led illuminating it. It just uses leftover light of the dial. So the needle is almost always poorly lit. So much that only in dark can I see it. And now with a rain cover on, I can almost never see the console.
Another thing that I miss very much is a tachometer. Now some of you guys may say why the heck I need a tacho on a commuter bike. I would like to find out what is a proper rpm range for optimum mileage. My journey involves highway run. So I have to take bike in excess of 60kph to reach anywhere. So in that speed I would like to know strain on engine. Plus it's so cool

So I want to know can we fit a digital console on this bike? I saw closely console of pulsar 135 st. It has screw sockets exactly like this bike's console. So I think it can fit perfectly. However is it feasible? Will there be too much modification of wiring needed to fit it? If it can be done how much cost will it incur?

    Please help.

Does the CDI of 125ST have a digital tacho out option? If yes any 12V digital tacho should work. About the needle, you can open up the console and stick some, I don't what's it's called in English, but it's some glittering powder used for make up and handicraft purpose with fevibond. It'd make the needle more visible, you can upgrade the LED too I think.

What's the CDI? What is "digital tacho out option"? Sorry but not everyone is an expert

Very simply laid, CDI or Capacitor Discharge unit is a part of ignition system that facilitates the spark delivery and its timing in response to throttle opening/RPM unlike earlier ignition systems that used mechanical distributors or capacitors. The CDI units are most likely placed under the seat.
An analog tacho or RPM meter has 3 wires that connects to CDI, battery and ground. If the digital tacho that you are opting to has such wiring capability to CDI, chances of fitting them is more likely. You need to check with an ASC or auto electrician as well.

Can you put a diagram for the connections from the CDI, if you have. How do you ascertain if the CDI unit has a tacho output?
