    Tvs apache rtr 180 speed ratio problem

    I own a rtr 180,2011 model its done 18k Kms.In the first few months I purchased the bike,it was running perfectly,was doing 55kmph @5th gear @4000rpm.
    After 6 months,I faced a serious tappet noise problem.Even though servicing my bike from authorised tvs centers in Nasik,the problem was prominent,so the service guys suggested me to change tappets rear sprocket and chain.So they did.After this,my bike started performing at 49kmph @5th gear @4000rpms,and the speed suffers more as i reach higher revs,like,i attain 100kmph @8000rpm which is frustrating to experience from a 180cc bike.
    1) i want to know what the exact problem is with my bike
    2) how it can be solved,i tried changing oil( now using shell advance fully synthetic) and also changed the clutch @ 10000kms

    Buddy, if you're seeing different speeds at a particular gear/rpm, it could be only two main reasons: 1. Change of tyres and 2. Change of sprockets.

    And they seem to have fit in a sprocket from a different bike. Maybe RTR 180's chain-sprocket kits were not available with them?

    The solution would be to count your sprocket teeth and check if they are 46 teeth in rear sprocket, and 14 in front.
    Did they fit in the 13 teeth sprocket of RTR 160 in the front? Get it checked and let us know....

      +1 to what [MENTION=11482]Samarth 619[/MENTION] has suggested.
      I would suggest you check air pressure in tires
      Also check if the speedo/tacho is functioning properly. Ask them to switch the console from another bike and check the speeds. It could be erroneous readings as well (just in case).

        Hi Buddy,

        The symptoms mentioned by you have nothing to do with Engine oil or Clutch plate,
        As already pointed out earlier, it could be either Rear tyre size, Front sprocket or rear spocket.
        Assuming rear tyre size did not change, it only means that either of the spocket has been change to non-OEM size..

          I havent changed my tyres,the bike is running on stock tyres.Yes the sprocket change might be the issue,the TVS ASC might have fitted the 160 front sprockets!.I am gonna check them soon.Thank you sam!!

          Umm,my speedo is functioning quite properly,showing accurate readings,the needle in rtr has a name for regular malfunctioning,but i think mine is all okay.
