  • Hero SVC Problems in Delhi - What to do ?

I've tried to be brief , some of it is a part of the letter I sent to hero (email and speed post ..) . Please give your precious opinion , what should I do :

    22.7.2013
I went there because the engine oil drain hole of my glamour (2007 model ) bike had got damaged .
The service supervisor (Mr. Anil Kumar) told me that the whole crank case needed to be replaced and it could not be repaired. Actually it could have been easily replaired with the help of lathe machine.
So I agreed , He gave me delivery time of 4.30 pm but delivered it atabout 6.45 pm.
I had a telebooking for the service a day before (mine was 2nd number on the list ) and reached there at 8.40 am.
They managed to wash the bike till 12.00 ,then mechanic worked on it for an hour, left that and took another bike for service , did that for 3.30 hours .

He didn't perform the job well because :
    1. the crankcase replaced is certainly a used one ,as it's paint quality is rough and the paint comes off easily when even touched ligtly . it has scratches. There was no mention of crankcase bearings and seals in the bill.
    2. After the service , the engine oil is leaking into the combustion chamber.
    3.The bike is smoking.
    4. The engine was not cleaned before and after opening it ,so dirt and dust got into it . Proper overhaul procedure was not followed.
5.The mechanic removed the cylinder by hitting with a hammer like thing and damaged the cylinder .
    6. the engine produces an annoying tik-tik sound.
    7. there was one bolt missing which binds engine to the chasis.

I complained on the spot about all the problems but they didn’t listen and ignored me completely.

    12 .08.2013
I went at the service center to complaint but they didn’t listen. They behaved very rudely. The manager pretended to be busy on a phone call that seemed to never end.

    18.09.2013
The manager of Himgiri Automobiles Pvt. Ltd.( A-19, New Jhilmil Industrial Area,Near Shahadara Flyover, G T Road, Jhilmil, Delhi – 110095 , Contact No.011 47357000 ) called me to ask the reason why I was making complaints , I told him the troubles they’ve caused . He insisted that I should visit the service center , so I decided to give it one last chance .

On 18.09.2013 , I went to the service center . The manager (Jitender kumar , cellphone no.9868789917 ) came and ordered the bike to be taken for inspection . They fiddled with the bike , and found out the
    following :

    1. The bike was consuming engine oil (as I had told them). There was some annoying noise from the engine since they opened it for the first time . These problems occured after they opened the engine to replace crank case.
    2. They said they couldn’t do anything about the crankcase and it came as it was i.e. with really bad paint job and scratches .
    3. The solution according to them was to change the piston rings and valves . They told the price of these items to be Rs. 1000 (excluding labour charges.)

I told them not to do it as I knew :
    a. They were trying to rob me again ,and they were not certain that the problem would be solved or not .
    b. All the problems have been caused by their faulty workmanship & dishonest mentality ; therefore they should do all the work free of charge. They have caused immense problems.
They must give what I’ve paid for i.e. a new crankcase and a proper overhaul and compensation for all the troubles they’ve caused.
They have caused huge mental and financial problem.
I’ve attached a photo of the bill. They’ve messed up with the whole engine and bike.

Hero Moto should think seriously before giving authorization to such people to service their bikes.

Hero Moto’s reputation depends on the action taken & I’m sure that you will not disappoint .

    16.10.2013
Manager of that service ce[IMG][/IMG]nter called and said he and his dishonest crew did the right thing , no matter what my complaint was. He said that he didn’t have any solution for my problem and will talk to the regional office about this . He said the engine didn’t need to be cleaned before it had to be opened , everything’s fine.

    18.10.2013
Manager of that service center called and said that he had talked to the Regional Hero Center and they said to change the Piston rings and valves free of cost but didn’t say anything about the replaced crankcase. I was busy at that time so didn’t conversate for long , and told him that I would call him when I am free.

Now, friends , suggest me the best course of action .
    Thanks

      Hi kabir,

I don't know how the communication is going on between you and Hero, but I would suggest to keep the conversation in written. Either email or hard copy which ever way it works. Preferably email.

Whatever response you get from the SCV manager, ask him to give it in written. Things like "we can only do this and nothing else", if in written will help strengthen your case. Moreover instead of visiting the SVC reply on email informing them on what you agree on what what is being done incorrectly.
Trust me when you ask someone to give their statement in written they think twice before even starting to write. It'll save you all the BS and won't bother you too much mentally like the arguments you might have at the SVC face to face.
To begin with shoot out an email, if they ask you to visit the SCV and meet the manager, keep your cell phone voice recorder on and even camera if possible and record the conversation. Else before even starting to talk, tell him I need your reply in written. Take a sheet of paper, write down his comments on your own and ask him to sign it.
Honestly speaking I've gone that far and it works like a charm. You should just have the guts to do it, take a friend along for moral support.
Ideally starting the case this way should get you moving in the right direction or else the documentation will make it easier for consumer forum to help you.

Try it out and let us know.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Re: Hero SVC Problems in Delhi - What to do ?

Ok, the problem so far is between the SVC and you. Hero has replied to change the rings and valves for free. But the problem is that the said SVC will not do a proper work. So let me guide you to what you should do. First of all you stay in delhi. So it will be easy for you to visit the Hero regional office. So i would request you to go to the regional office with your bike. But important thing:-Do not talk in rude and forceful manner. Be polite and courteous. It is because everybody has Ego, so do not try to hurt that. I will tell you an example. Have you seen that when a small child falls down it starts crying. In order to make him/her stop crying we just slap the floor or the thing which hit. You will see immediately the child stops crying. Why so?It is because the child's Ego was hurt and since it was not his power to hit back so it started crying. When you hit back his Ego was satisfied. So if a small child has so much of Ego then will not such a big person will have ego.So be polite. The more polite and courteous you are the more eager they are there to see your problem. Have a talk with regional manager or the service engineer in the office. After that produce the bills and documentation in support of your claim.Tell them politely that you have bought the bike and if they want they can check the bike. Let them test if they are eager. After they do so just write a letter and submit it there detailing your problems. Write the letter in your handwriting as hand written letter has more weight-age than computer print-out.It is just that the mechanics and the supervisors in service center are dis-honest and impolite. But the officers in the office are polite and also try to give imporatnce to customer.Do this and see the result.

Thank you Sibun Sir, I'll do it and give update .

Is it possible for a new crankcase to come with a bad paint job , which comes off easily even when slightly rubbed with finger?

                  much obliged .

No, never. a new crankcase never comes with such inferior quality. Even the Vespa which is on sale here for around 3000 rupees (Mind you, a Hero bicycle costs more than that) has better paint job. Service centers are a joke in India, they don't do anything good and the companies highly discourage DIY, just see, parts catalog and service manuals are really hard to get here. Bajaj did not give me a copy of the Pulsar 150 service manual but Kawasaki gave me one free of cost.

One day, I'll get money too and maybe buy a bike, but then I'll opt out of warranty, much like our Sibun sir. Interesting, I was trying to buy a bicycle yesterday as my old one is no longer rideable and found out the cost of one is 3,500 rupees. I inquired about the spares price and shockingly all the parts needed to build a bicycle costs around 2,500 rupees. I'm buying one part at a time and should be able to finish it in a year. Till then, I walk alone (instead of pedaling).

Like others, I suggest you to visit the regional office of Hero and complain in person. Insist on getting a new crankcase and cylinder kit free of cost and a free service.
                    I am back!

Today I went to the zonal office of Hero motocorp. I made a complaint and the engineer (deepak walia) noted some details in his rough copy and said that officials would contact me soon. He said he could not comment about the quality of the crankcase and it can be ascertained after the proper checkup only.

Re: Hero SVC Problems in Delhi - What to do ?

This is really sad brother, even i am from Delhi. I know how you feel currently. Hero always have such monopoly like this... even when you purchased a new vehicle they always add unnecessary charges in the selling price list, like helmet which is not more than 300rs in open market but they are charges more than 675rs.

If you are not working somewhere i mean if have time, if you have everything in BLANK and WHITE,

File a case against them matter of only Rs.10/- in consumer court ( you can search in Google about your area consumer court) .... before that attached everything in mail & right your history PINPOINT from day one and send right from service station , showroom to hero corporate office.

Don't forget to right like this.. you suffering (money, important meeting, or make one false medical certificate about an accident ) and give them very clearly and in strong words if nothing will happened within specified date, you will take this matter to consumer court...

This email will act in favor once you raised this in consumer court, dont worry the procedure is very simple in court with no extra fees only rupees 10 / or i think its 100rs .. but this requires your personal presence...

First i advice you to send that mail and see how they react in the mean time search for address or procedure in your area. there is one program ZEE PAREDAAR.. address and email you will get from google.

right all this suffering and threatening or warning all in the mail & give them specified time to reply..

                          Kabir,

You should have gotten something from him in written. My experience is that all the people lie so never ever believe what they say, always try t get things in written.

BTW I got my head shaved today just like the guy from The Taxi Driver, wearing sunglasses like him too. I finally closed a chapter of my life and opened a new one.
