    Re: Bike Totalled

    IMO

    1) get the repair estimate from the bajaj service center if the estimate is 85% or greater then you need to ask for total loss.
    2) for a 1month or less bike the total loss value will be equal to IDV if you being offered lesser file a suit at IRDA applets and with in 30 day they will settle
    3) tell the alto guy that different he ends to fund else you will upgrade the case to hit and run. Considering his age he should not have a license and if he does have a valid one it should be validated and renewed every 1 or 2 years with eye checkup and all am sure he hasn't done this ( typical in our country). Add you hospital charges to this claim without fail.

follow the above 3 and you should end up getting 90 of the bike OTR and your hospital claim put together.

remember that it's the surveys job to beat you down and companies like reliance bajaj and royal sundaram are good at beating down people. So be smart don't back down say them to offer the settlement in writing and you will dispute it in IRDA applet they will slowly increase the amount.....

      Re: Bike Totalled

Its Sad that you had an accident also you are fortunate that you esacaped with minor Injuries.
I would strongly suggest you to go for Total Loss Claim with out any doubt. even if there is a rebuild in the engine
it would give you 100% problems sooner.
regarding the case, i would suggest ask him to pay the Damage for the Bike [Remaining , that is difference of On road and insurance co. is paying] + Hospital Bills.
if he is refusingor convincing you that he cant file an FIR of hit and run case. Strictly!

        Re: Bike Totalled

File an FIR(should be done on same day). Go for total loss. No point in repairing brand new bike. If you repair and continue using the bike, you will relate the accident for any problem arised with the bike later on. Accidents may cost few thousand rupees, accept it. Buy another bike, ride carefully, have peace of mind.

          Re: Bike Totalled

Total loss is the only and intelligent option for you, even if you are getting less money, a severly damaged bike can't be repaired as new by these ASC, and for that idiot alto man get a case against him these kind of people should be taught a lesson.

Insurance guys-They are the one who suggested total loss, now they want to repair the bike
Bajaj- I called them, The main service head is absent for the past 3 days. Still unable to know the exact condition of bike.

My friends who saw bike said The engine oil is leaking

The 70 year old man who drove Alto said he can give only upto a max of 8k if I made a compromise in the case.
Its better to go for case and than his insignificant money

N yep Im thankful that I escaped with minor injuries. A hit that broke a engine didnt broke my bone, if I remember correctly, Alto's bumper hit my left leg n engine side simultaneously.
I had only helmet with me. Haven't bought any protective gears except for Riding gloves.

Part of me want the bike to be repaired so that I can ride again, another part of me want to go for total loss claim, get some money n move on.
Anyway I have suggested for total loss, but the insurance people are toying with me. Now I hate Reliance General Insurance
Hi bro, how are you now? what happened after that? have you go the right amount? Hope you are riding again.
