I must say, I have the Worst Luck ever

I had an accident, An Alto car Hit on my left side who came from a small pocket road, I was on a 4lane doing just 60kmph
Thank god I didnt have fracture(which I still couldnt believe since the wound was so deep I could even see my Bare Bones), had some 12 stitches on my left leg, After 10 days Im still unable to walk. I have filed a case against the stupid Car driver

Coming back to the bike part, The bike took a major damage to engine n radiator. The bajaj showroom n insurance guys offered me 2 choices

    1. Total Loss claim
    2. To repair it

Bought 200ns on 11th nov and Accident on 24th Nov. I had registration on 19th Nov

    Ex shoroom price- 90k
    Onroad price- 1L
    Bike Insured price- 83k

So should I go for Total Loss claim? How much amount would I get? Or just repair the engine? I think I may face problems later

    Please enlighten me on this

Ahhh too sad mate that you met with an accident. . .

About the topic, best you go for a total loss claim and get another one if the bike is too much damaged cos repairing it now will only bring problems in the future, so best get another one later. . . Get well soon, tc . . .

      Cheers!!!

        Re: Bike Totalled

Sorry to hear the sad news bro. Hope you get well soon.

In my opinion, since its a brand new bike, the insurance will give you the maximum amount for the total loss claim. Its actually better that you go for it as no one can be sure about how extensive the damage really is. Also if the bike is repaired, the problems might reoccur.

From my understanding no dealer can offer this choice unless they go hand-in-hand with insurance surveyor.

From my little understanding, the insurance company calculates as follows...

If Repair Charges > IDV Then you get IDV (83K) Else you get Repair Charges

That said, I would say you're more than fortunate to sit down & write this post here today. Probably your bike protected you from any severe injuries.

            Re: Bike Totalled

83k is low since the bike was just about two weeks old.
Don't get the engine repaired, it will never be good as new, what happened to the Alto? I hope it took some major damage too, get the money from insurance and the rest from the Alto owner. I too had a bike totaled, but it was an old beat up RX135 so did not feel that bad.

That's too low mate IMO, get some help if you have anybody knowing in the office, speak to them about your bike and say it's not even a month old and ask them to get you more. . . Don't leave the Alto a$$hole too, get the money from his side so that you will be able to get another one. . . Seriously 68-73k for an almost new bike is damn too low . . .

                  Cheers!!!

                    Re: Bike Totalled

Very sad to read the post and the situation you are in at the moment. from what you are saying i have a feeling you were not fully equipped with safety gears.. Please take care of your health and get well soon.

now coming to the Claim.. that is a pretty low claim. I suggest you fight for more as the bike is worth more. Like Rakesh has mentioned. Try to find someone who can help you or someone who might know the person in the Insurance Company. The rest of the money get it from that bugger Alto guy.

For God's sake please be well equipped to protect yourself hereafter. An actual experience is the God of lessons learnt. Please take proper rest and take good care of your health. I remember how happy you were getting the P200NS. Damn

You should be thankful that you escaped with minor injuries, it could have been lot worse. As far as claims, that's what you will get, mostly, even though low. It's alright get the remaining amount from that stupid car guy and buy another 200NS and ride more carefully here afterwards. How come you were not able to break in time from 60?

The thing is I can only conversate with insurance n bajaj people in my mobile phone, I wish I could walk go there n talk in person. Also check my condition of bike

Insurance guys-They are the one who suggested total loss, now they want to repair the bike
Bajaj- I called them, The main service head is absent for the past 3 days. Still unable to know the exact condition of bike.

My friends who saw bike said The engine oil is leaking

The 70 year old man who drove Alto said he can give only upto a max of 8k if I made a compromise in the case.
Its better to go for case and than his insignificant money

N yep Im thankful that I escaped with minor injuries. A hit that broke a engine didnt broke my bone, if I remember correctly, Alto's bumper hit my left leg n engine side simultaneously.
I had only helmet with me. Haven't bought any protective gears except for Riding gloves.

Part of me want the bike to be repaired so that I can ride again, another part of me want to go for total loss claim, get some money n move on.
Anyway I have suggested for total loss, but the insurance people are toying with me. Now I hate Reliance General Insurance

Oh. get well soon. Take rest and ask a relative to run behind the bike and case thing. Don't compromise with that 70 year man.

Reg bike: chances are that your frame will have a bend. If they offer to keep the same frame and some of the scratched parts don't accept that. Last thing you wanna have is a repaired chassis.

Ask a friend good about bikes to assess the damage properly. That will help you make up your mind and decision. I will suggest getting a new bike than repairing.

                              For the car driver :

Ask him to keep his 8k. Get a decent lower who can get you an amount equal to :

Medical expenses + difference between the price of a new bike and claim amount + cost of litigation + any loss of income
In the period of rest + the interest for all thse till payment is made.
