I'm to cheesed of at the moment to continue with my write up on the Tourer thread I had started with an almost similar topic

now that the cat is out of the bag, its better I get to the point.
On the way back from Ooty, down Kothagiri and on my way to Sathyamangalam my bike seized.
To brief you, we where a group of 6 headed by Kiran (Pulsar 180 classic) , David and his wife (TB), Indro (350 Machismo), Dom ( 500 Machismo) and your truly (Pulsar 180 UG3)
Riding down Ooty is easily by far the best 1 and a half hours of riding I have ever had. Me and my bike in perfect harmony bending into each and every curve, blind turn and hair pin bind like those synchronised games in the olympics

I truly believe that I had tested the limits of my biking skills on the way down. And it was mighty brilliant. We were constantly at 65 - 75 km hr scrapping foot pegs, loosing rear ends and just about everything was on the limit.
We started at 6:45 and had reached a chai shop at the foothills by 7:45. Pushed off by 8, bike did not seem to show any signs, at least outwards, of the impending failure. We where off again and after one fuel stop later where i topped my tank

Right before Sathyamangalam town limits, probably 5 km before, we caught this long super straight stretch of road which went downhill and lo behold! we had a draft of wind assisting us!
I turned my wrist skywards, bent towards my fuel tank and watched the needle cross 110 & move onto 118. To the left, the rev limiter blinker kept blinking ineccesantly but I dint pay heed.
Just then, I noticed Kiran's yellow helmet loom into my sights as he slowed down to the side of the road. I ignored him and turned back to the road and just then it happened.
No spectacular noise, no deathely vibrations nothing. I simply lost compression! It was as though my bike was taking in its last few gasping breaths and the tachometer refused to point up. Cutting gears to no avail, I slowed down to the side of the road and tried to bring my bike to life.
Thats when I noticed in my rear view mirror, Kiran getting towed my Dom. Flying FISH!!! Kiran's bike had also seized on the same stretch of road!!
He was doing 125 when his bike seized. Guys, we where just totally baffled. If it is just a co-incidence then 1 has to agree it is an eerie one at that too. Is this the limit of the perfromance of my bike? Did I push it too hard?
If yes, then i'm disappointed.
I must admit though, neither me or Kiran touched our bikes. We loaded it onto a tempo to Erode and then packed it to chennai. But I clearly remember checking my oil level and finding it to be perfectly fine. While i stood, there was no form of oil leakage from the engine or even the exhaust. Simply put, it seemed like a bike in perfect running condition

The Bajaj mechanics who opened my bike though claim that there was only 100 ml of engine oil left! I had serviced my bike only last tuesday and my mechanic had filled in Castrol semi synthetic 20 50.
Today I just came back from Khivraj Motors, Nungambakkam Chennai, amd have been slapped with a quotation for 15,100 INR across my face. That is how much it is going to cost me to completely overhaul my bike
Parts to be replaced are - complete piston+bore+crankshaft
- clutchplate
- timing chain
- inlet & outlet valves
- Stock air filter box (as I have K&N)
- Stock spark plugs (I have NGK Irridium)
- blah blah
Frankly i'm totally confused guys. I saw the bore and there was scoring all over the sides. My apologies for not getting any photos. I will definitly click some and post.
What do you guys have to say?
