Philips would not fit. The holder and pin is different. Look for Halonix, tell the shop fellow that its for Shogun.

^^^Im not too keen on going in for Halonix.

I don't think the store keeper at a Hero Honda dealership will be able to gell me if it can fit on Shogun. Hmm... mebbe I should try at TVS... but then they will most likely be selling stuff at inflated rates...

Ok, I got fed up with the poor light and decided to change the whole headlight assembly as I had a duplicate one installed. (Mechanic believes in el cheapo stuff !)

The bulb is now an Osram bulb. Unfortunately a higher wattage one did not work (old electricals and battery to blame). So while the light has improved the beam is still a bit high. I can still see the signboards on the road very clearly but not the road in front of me.

My mechanic adjusted the headlight to make it as low as possible but the beam has not gotten much lower.. just a bit.

On the plus side, the Veedol oil has enabled my bike to go at higher speeds. My bike used to threaten to fall apart at 100 kph. But now it is more planted and I am more in control.

Try a regular Halogen for Shogun from Bosch... available at most spare shops for Rs 60 or 70. Those lights from the modern multi-reflector headlights are generally HS1 type and not the old pin type.

You should have bought the assy and got it fixed at a good HH authorised place. Its a pretty simple thing to adjust the beam for most bikes!

Your el cheapo mechanic will make everything el cheapo...

Hmm... awrite, thanks! Will try and get one from a Bosch dealer.

Finally found time to do the bulb thingy. Bought a Halonix from a nearby garage/shop. And something strange happened - the illumination of the #$%% Halonix M5 was worse than the ordinary tungsten filament Ravi bulb!!? And I thought any halogen would be brighter than an ordinary bulb!!

Got so pissed... went back to the garage, and he readily agreed to change it with the other 2 brands he had that would fit the Shogun's holder - Phillips and Osram.

Tried the Phillips 1st (manufactured in 2006) and then the Osram (packed in 2007). The Osram was decidedly brighter! So I decided to keep it. But I really doubt its any brighter than the ordinary bulb.

What I'm purplexed about is how can halogen bulbs have such poor illumination when compared to a cheap ordinary bulb?

The Halonix I checked later was made in 2004. Do they still make the same kind of crappy bulbs? The dealer said he would get new ones soon... would it be worth trying out?

Any ideas as to what are the best options? Also, can I get a new headlight assy. with the same dimensions as the stock assy but a better reflector (so that the fairing remains in place)? What might be the cost involved?
