Somebody please post the link to the thread where one posted about his R15 RC BB cylinder leaking coolant very early.

Re: Red hot exhaust manifold issue- RC Exhaust.
Avin45H......You have gone for the whole works of BB kit with FFE....you are running against time before the whole thing goes Kaput.....
A BB kit needs a richer AFR...
An FFE needs Richer AFR...
Since R15 is open loop, it is difficult to have Auto correction for fueling or other issues.....
A sincere request...remove the entire BB kit + FFE and fit in Stock parts...You can then lead a peaceful life..When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Suppose if I am not able to revert back on time, what are the consequences? what parts may I need to get more, apart from already stock parts that I have with me .. I already have the stock cylinder, piston and etc with me..

Re: Red hot exhaust manifold issue- RC Exhaust.
Crankshaft, it is not just about the parts, once you split the crankcase, it is hard to get it installed back properly with all those retarded mechanics and SVCs around. You may need an engine overhaul and considering R15 spares' price it would be expensive.Originally posted by avin45h View PostSuppose if I am not able to revert back on time, what are the consequences? what parts may I need to get more, apart from already stock parts that I have with me .. Re: Red hot exhaust manifold issue- RC Exhaust.
First alarm for me, from the mechanic's side
The bike refused to start, there wasnt enough pressure being generated, tried everything but everytime it did, Engine felt like dying. Somehow got it started, took it to yamaha guys. They checked and told me about coolant leakage, tappet settings, timing chain ... I told them the whole story, told them about all incidents in the power house thread. He suggested that they open up the engine and inspect the things, and if anything feels suspicious, I should revert back but it should not happen though. The worst case could be cylinder sieze and Since my stock parts are in a good shape, it wont cost me a bomb. Right now the mechanic Dreamriders vehicles pvt ltd, mayapuri are the one responsible for this. Showed the yamaha guys a spare gasket from there, and they said that they haven't seen a worse gasket than that. I will wait for a report from these guys and take action on dreamriders accordingly.
Conclusion from alarm 1 : Don't get the work done at dreamriders, they are noobs.

The only good thing for this new year start is, that the senior person at Service station asked me to not revert back, not lose hope, rather take it as a learning lesson and make the money I invested pay off in terms of knowledge. Though thanks to the mechanic I got the installation done from, I missed my appointment with the doc

Re: Red hot exhaust manifold issue- RC Exhaust.
I stopped myself from posting as you have already been guided to go back to stock.
As psr sir mentioned, you need to get the whole engine overhauled which I guess would be more for R15 (RTR costed 12k)
When I had the issue of lean afr , the valves were bent due to which bike was not starting up.
As mentioned none of the products are plug n plat, rather plug n pray.
If not dreamriders, get your bike to a good svc and go back to stock. At the same time I agree that the money you invested should be taken as an experience and not to go for any such things in the future.
I know how it feels to go for loud exhaust, that "feeling" of going fast, but at the end of the day, its hampering the reliability of the "real" engine.
Yes, you did a mistake by not going through the threads like many people have done and later they came back to the same thread with their share of bad experiences.
Hope you take all these alarms seriously and take a wise decision.

Re: Red hot exhaust manifold issue- RC Exhaust.
Told you about leaking coolants earlier, the gaskets are leaking I think, bore might be cracked too. Do not blame the person who installed those parts, those parts were indeed crappy.
You are saying multiple times that you still have the stock parts, let me remind you again that you do not have a spare crankshaft. Also installing the crankshaft is a nightmare since there are not many mechanics even at SVC who is adequately knowledgeable about fuel injected liquid cooled engine.
I say revert back to stock and stay happy and if you are somewhat business minded, sell that "tooning kit" to another one who is power hungry just like you, he too will learn a lesson at comparatively less expenditure
Have you ever thought that if you add the money you get by selling the bike to the money you spend on the "power up" kit, you could have bought a 200NS or a Duke.
Not sure but I have heard that Joel's R15 cylinder is actually a fake copy of Yamaha Ray or some other scooter's cylinder that is sold in Indonesia. It was rebored and being sold as performance part here.I am back!

I gave the bike to svc already, those guys are taking it apart and checking if the parts are good enough to stand , if not I will revert back

Maximum possibilities right now are to revert back. Waiting for the report from SVC, right now the gamble with them is just for 1.1 K. If I revert back, I will be selling it and going in for another high revving bike. By the way, what are the odds of crankshaft being messed up? has there been cases of R15 pistons shattering? or other reasons can mess up with that tooOriginally posted by Cleaner View PostTold you about leaking coolants earlier, the gaskets are leaking I think, bore might be cracked too. Re: Red hot exhaust manifold issue- RC Exhaust.
The connecting rod gets cracked or sometimes the big end bearings get ruined too, both needing a crankshaft overhaul, frankly I'd replace the crankshaft than get it repaired unless its a vintage bike like RX135 due to unavailability of parts.Originally posted by avin45h View PostI gave the bike to svc already, those guys are taking it apart and checking if the parts are good enough to stand , if not I will revert back

Tryst me, it would come up way more than 1.1K
All gaskets, bearings, oil seals will have to be changed once crankcase is split. Also with all the new consumables, expect to spend around 2.5K to 3K
I have heard of R15 pistons cracking and the crown melting. I have once seen small end needle nose bearing turning into pieces and requiring a engine overhaul to get those broken pieces out.I am back!

Finally decided to sell this R15 for around 60000 and get a KTM 390, reverting to stock.Originally posted by Cleaner View PostThe connecting rod gets cracked or sometimes the big end bearings get ruined too, both needing a crankshaft overhaul, frankly I'd replace the crankshaft than get it repaired unless its a vintage bike like RX135 due to unavailability of parts.

Re: Red hot exhaust manifold issue- RC Exhaust.
A very wise decision..Always remember that a bike or car does not come out without the designer and manufacturer putting it through torturous tests, and knowing the limits . So trying to be cleverer than the Original designer is always at your expense...Still a 10% change in certain parameters is allowable, which will give a slight edge over stock...but the person doing it should know about engines ,Hands on Experience, and a core knowledge of the specific engine.....I learned this in my 20s and 30s by Tooning on my own bike, and friend's bikes...My bike seized not due to wrong attempt, but because of grime in the 2 T pump, which inhibited proper flow of 2 T oil at higher RPMs...My experiments taught me many things and a greater respect for design engineers..Originally posted by avin45h View PostFinally decided to sell this R15 for around 60000 and get a KTM 390, reverting to stock.
Bottom line, if you want reliability, FE and less maintenance, then stay stock..If you are keen for higher power..buy a higher power Bike and save yourself Expensive experiment which will finally lead to your bike put in a basket.
Good Luck..When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

And yeah, I feel what you just said. Taking it as all the money down the sink for an experience that I will remember forever.
