Re: Problems arising after breakdown. Please help
Then your friend may be right about damaged clutch plates. Ride your bike for 10 odd kms and please post your spark plug's pictures (the upper ceramic portion) from 4-5 angles. Do this before installing new clutch plates.Originally posted by sudhakar229 View Post

Stuff needed: Multimeter. (borrow one from an electrician if needed)
Check the accuracy of the multimeter first. Plug in both terminals of the multimeter into their respective terminals and shot the outer ends of both terminals together. Resistance should be zero, else keep note of the value on the display and use it later while calculating Voltage as per Ohm's law.
Now, measure the potential difference across battery terminals:
a. With the ignition on (not cranked, just switch at ON)
b. With the bike on and idling.
c. With the bike on and revved upto 3000-4000 rpm.
d. With the bike on and headlamps switched on.
Get back with the Voltage for above scenarios.
2. Clutch plates issue.
Does the bike heat up in traffic abnormally? Is the pick up reduced? Has top speed reduced?
Does the rpm increase but not speed?
P.S - Do not attempt any gearbox/engine/clutch related DIY without prior experience/expert guidance.
Thanks sir for your valuable response.
I will not try to install clutch-plates
I will come with battery figures as soon as possible.
Yes, I can feel extra heat and reduced power/pick-up, I told the person servicing the bike about low pick-up but I don't think he was smart enough to figure it out. I had not checked the top speed after servicing as i thought it may damage the clutch-plate/engine if there is any problem already is there.
P.S. I also feel some burning smell sometimes.

AFAIK, P150's clutch + pressure plates cost ~650 to 800 rupees. (I may be wrong here)Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostIt might at max cost you 1500/- saying this as the Hunk's Clutch plates cost me 1200.. and it isn't easy to install it yourself unless you have the proper tools which only mechanics have

as always, thanks for your inputs

Can some one plz suggest me a better MISTRI for pulsar in lucknow?

Re: Problems arising after breakdown. Please help
Well I am not an expert with PulsarsOriginally posted by sudhakar229 View PostWell I don't have the multi meter but I can get it checked by our in house electrician we have in office. Please guide me with the procedure. I guess the sound is more at starting and it comes continued.
but for my ZMR, when the stator plate went kaput, I was advised to do as in the below link..
<div class='xflo_forum_img'> <a href="http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcycle-ownership-experiences/"><img src='images/catimages/xflo/ownership.png'/></a> </div> <div class='xflo_forum_text'> Share what you think about the motorcycle you own or have owned in the past. </div>
it might be helpful. Not sure if the readings will be the same as in ZMR for pulsars

Don't go by what the exide guy says. try to get it checked from a mechanic.. if you have the multimeter to test the battery, we can guide you to check it yourself..

How long does the sound last? please do try and upload the videoOriginally posted by sudhakar229 View PostThanks for reply. I got my bike serviced yesterday. Engine Oil changed. Air filter cleaned. Spark plug is doing fine. There is no problem in electrical after service and battery change. However the person at exide said that the charger should get changed. I will try to upload the sound video in evening after office. I rode the bike for 200 kms approx after idle parking and before service and oil change.

1. The Charger/rectifier/stator plate can't go bad just by keeping the bike idle for a long time. However, there are possibilities for it to go kaput before you left it idle.
2. Well, the small bottle like thing you are talking about looks like the fuse to me.. that won't require replacement unless the small filament inside it is cut off.
3. Please get the engine oil changed and see if the noise persists.. when did you change the engine oil? they tend to go bad if the bike hasn't been used for a long time. Get the Oil filter changed when you change the engine oil.. get the air filters and spark plugs checked.. Is it possible for you to upload a video of the sound being made to make it clear for us to identify?
Please ride safe and wear safety gears especially helmet at all times.
Cheers,

Re: Problems arising after breakdown. Please help
Thanks The Monk for quick reply. Yes I am fine now and riding happily.Originally posted by The Monk View PostQuery Approved
First and foremost i hope you are well and in a condition to ride now.
How many km has your bike done? Clutch plates don't get spoilt in an accident nor do the electricals. The battery might have got drained because it was parked for a long time.
Give some more information about your bike, age, mileage, service history etc.
The bike has done 25000 kms approx in three years span. Service interval is 2500 kms avg. I never checked mileage specifically but on an average it is ranging from 35-42 depending on condition like traffic, road condition, etc.
I don't ride the bike daily as I reside in my office campus itself. I ride for fun and to fulfill the instinct. I had done 500 - 600 kms several times in a day. Also I love to accelerate the bike up to 104 kms/ph while I am on highways occasionally.
Is there anything else in particular I should mention? Thanks again for the help.

Problems arising after breakdown. Please help
Dear fellows,
First of all a big thanks to all xbhpians to help me while buying my Pulsar 150 with tons of existing knowledge.
I met with an accident in January. That took me to a bed rest for approx 3 months. Now I am allowed to move and now is the time to take care of the bike. It was standing idle @ home for two months approx before the accident. and for 5 months approx after 5 months. Today I took my bike to the mechanic. I got original mask fairing and front mudguard installed as they were shattered. Self was not working and i was told that this is battery problem. I went to exide and they checked the battery with a meter or something ( I am not good with that stuff) and told me to replace the battery. I purchased new one for 1300 bux and replacement of my old battery. Now my queries are as listed below:
- I was told that the charger of my bike has gone and i need to change it ASAP otherwise battery will not last long.
- I was also told that i need to replace that round small bottle shaped thing placed just near the battery. However, after making a direct connection in a box placed just below that bottle I was informed that the bottle is fine and no need to replace.
- There is also some strange noise like khin khin khin khin coming from front side of engine near break lever. I was told by a friend that the clutch plate is gone. I am not good in that stuff and don't know exactly what to do.
So friends, here is the problem. Please some one put some light on this so that I could get a fair idea.
Thanks for the help.Tags: None
