Standing bike, so rotors and disc pads ruled out for now.Originally posted by sudhakar229 View PostHere is the video of the sound coming from bike... Please translate this to me

Re: Problems arising after breakdown. Please help
It sounds like something is loose.. check the Exhaust mounts from the Cylinder Head.. i too feel this could be it.. but then, you said the engine is getting hot when you ride it and also said there is loss in acceleration.. but this sound doesn't have anything to do with the Clutch Plates if I am right..Originally posted by sudhakar229 View PostDivya Sir you mean to say its not clutch plate!!! it can also be the heat guards of the exhaust being loose or the rubber mounts for the bolts need replacement..Splendor - 2k to 2006

Re: Problems arising after breakdown. Please help
We'll come to clutch plates later. First get the mounts and bolts checked. You need to ride to see if the clutch plates are ok or not. Also, spark plug pics and voltage figures from the battery are pending.Originally posted by sudhakar229 View PostDivya Sir you mean to say its not clutch plate!!! You saved me if it is true...

Re: Problems arising after breakdown. Please help
Sir I would like to add some more info... The heat feels after at least 20 kms with high speed. And I felt that there is something wrong with ground clearance. Bike makes a thud every now and then when there is even a little bit high speed breaker or some road patch. Is it possible that exhaust or any thing is loose and its hitting the ground??? I think I can check this by myself... But yes, There is a slight lose i feel in power/pick up. Any suggestion?? Thanks a lot for being big help

This could be the suspension at fault.. do you hear it from the front or from the rear.. the ground clearance will not change if you leave the bike idle even for centuriesOriginally posted by sudhakar229 View PostSir I would like to add some more info... Did you check the tire pressure?? I am sure you did but this thud sound can also because of less air pressure inside the tires.. or because the ball bearings (Cone Set) need lubrication/adjustment/replacement.. Do you get this thud sound when you apply brakes??Last edited by rreneav1987; 07-26-2014, 02:28 PM.Splendor - 2k to 2006

Re: Problems arising after breakdown. Please help
As the sound was varying with rpm
You can check the exhaust heat shield(small piece of chrome on the exhaust just below the engine )
Check whether it is loose and rev the bike while pressing it by your foot against it
If the sound is same then you can move to other areas of concern like the left engine side and the alternator

Check your chain tensionOriginally posted by sudhakar229 View PostSir I would like to add some more info... The heat feels after at least 20 kms with high speed. When the chain is loose it will hit the chain guard on bumps and patches.

Re: Problems arising after breakdown. Please help
Thanks for your reply. I had found source of sound and its exactly what you suggested. It was the shield and it is fixed now. I will get the chain checked. I apologize to the friends who helped me very much coz I have not posted the battery multimeter figures and the snaps of spark plug. Actually I am unable to get the multimeter. But still trying.Originally posted by V!RU$ View PostAs the sound was varying with rpm

Cheap ones are available for as little as 100Rs
However you could get good ones for 300-500 Rs.
Here is another method of finding a faulty alternator
Disconnect the battery(Remove either of the terminals)
Kick start the bike
Switch on the headlight
On idle the headlight will flicker
But when you hold the rpm above 3,000-4,000 it should be at full brightness with constant intensity.
Also the horn should sound fine at the above rpm
If your bike passes the above test the alternator is fine.
Although this is just a small test.
A multimeter will give it's proper condition.....

Ohh I just missed you are from Lucknow!!! Actually I was trying to borrow this from someone. Is it alternator we are calling battery charger???
Also if you can suggest some good mechanic because the shop at kaisarbagh where I got it serviced was somehow not very convincing to me. And some how I feel that the bike is not in her tune as it was before. I mean this is hard to describe but I can not feel the same power, performance etc.
P.S. If you are in Lucknow only why don't we sip a cup of tea sometime?

Although i don't really go to service centers besides free servicing.
Kaiserbagh and lalbagh are not for quality service just for mods and stuff.
And most of the bajaj service centers are ignorant due to long queue of bikes.
There is a Bajaj service centre on Kursi Road just before Mama Chauraha.
It's new opened and is very small but the mechanic there is a dedicated chap.
He spent almost 3 hours on my cousin's 180.
Just look for a lean built curly haired guy of age 30-35 years.
