Re: Fog lights with alternative / own power source

I was just giving the idea how it can be done. I don't have much knowledge about RR. So the thing is can we draw DC power from RR ?

If a suitable torch can do the job, then also it's fine for me. Has anyone tried anything as such yet?

Bro just put some aftermarket led light on guard and connect to da battery. In Bengal we have less choice.

So, does anyone have any suggestion regarding the brand/model of external torches which can be put in the bike temporarily?

              Yes bro, I do have.

I was doing some bicycling few months ago. I was using some bicycle lights mounted on the handle bar of my Hercules Neo bicycle during evening hrs/riding in dark.
Now I am using the same in my motorcycle helmet - people was laughing at me. But it became a lifesaver in many cases. Used the 'flasher' option when nothing was visible due to fog, at night - when the busses/trucks coming from opposite direction but I was not able to see them due to heavy fog(at least they can see me due to flasher) and used at midnight, on a empty highway, at some notoriously famous stretch to remove a piece of cloth stuck in the rear disk break of my co-traveller, making him impossible to move.

That was purchased from Firefox store - 3 LEDs, waterproof, though chainease cheap option is also available.

                Thanks Bappa.
But, would those be powerful enough for a motorcycle? I anyways don't ride above 50 kmph(max) during night.

I have an idea. Plz don't laugh. What if we fit two laser light on the leg guard on both sides ? Red ones are of highest spectrum so opposite people can see us although it won't be any use to us but oncoming traffic will see us from a mile ahead.

No Barun, the lights would not be sufficient for motorcycles. Only you can use those on emergency purpose or in flasher mode.

Only option for your motorcycle would be using 5/10W led aux lights. Don't worry about messing up with existing wiring, the wiring can be independent one, drawing the power from your existing battery.

Nothing to laugh dude..all are amateur in some fields...though laser can travel long, it's simply not bright and large enough to be noticed easily during driving... May be a group of lasers can be used...

                          No, I am scared!
Using any light emitting RED in front - menace, you can be booked by police for using red light in front of your vehicle, unless you are a authorised govt official.

Why not using flasher in heavy fog instead, which can be unmounted if and when required. That too is illegal, but in such bad condition nobody would be standing to catch you.

If not red then some other colour. Basically vibgyor is spectrum so orange comes highest after red. Orange flashing laser then. And laser have a very high frequency wavelength, so it can be seen on heavy fog also. Try with 100-200rs laser on a foggy day , ur friend can see u from far away because laser doesn't disperse light like a torch.

                              Hey all,
a really interesting topic going on.
This is also my query regarding external light source on my P180.
I was on a hunt for such mods and ended up with a pair of Planet Bike Beamer 5 Headlights,
These are basically 5 Nichia LED's which provide the illumination.
                              Powered by 2 AA batteries.
Mounting clamps are available in the kit and mounted it on the crash guard, also these are waterproof.

                              Some snaps:

These are good and serve the purpose to an extent in the city, but hightway rides are terrible as Bappa Da stated.
The flasher mode is a very helpful feature though.

as its about one and half year you posted. i would like to know what is the impact of 100/90 bulb on stock reflector, holder and battery of pulsar 200NS over the period of time.
i have checked auxiliary led lights of 20w but the light throw is not convincing to me. 100/90 seems correct solution.
