What about the time when both of these go empty. How are you going to fill them up without any money. didn't think long and hard about it eh. did you??

This is a country where only 5% of the engineering graduates get a job after completing college, rest prepare for bank exams, and I can assure you of this statistic because I am a few of the luck and hard working ones who have a well paying job right after B.tech.

I too wanted my dream bike, so did I leave the college or blackmailed my father to buy it for me??

The answer is neither. I collected each and every penny I could save while I was in college. Didn't celebrate my birthday for 4 years, no new clothes or shoes for 4 years. Same old phone for 4 years. Then got a job and saved all my salary for 1 more year before I was able to buy my dream bike with my own money. This is what we call passion for something. You don't quit, you don't stop dreaming and you don't stop working hard. Every day gone is a day closer to your dream.

You think you can beat that by leaving the college and roaming around aimlessly.
Go back to college, its not too late.
Finish your studies, get a job, work hard, earn lots of money and then do whatever the hell you want to.

After all the replies, if still the TS is not clear, he will never be. Many people who have more experience in both life and on saddle have replied here. And has tried to portrait the real scenario. All the people are trying to guide you brother. Don't take offense but life is not a Bollywood movie. It's tough.
If you are not interested in studying whatever you presently pursue, I'd suggest, get a degree at Travel and Tourism at least. You will benefit both way. You can implement you theoretical knowledge practically and vice versa.
Best of luck!

A piece of advice brother, Never think about quitting. Before sleeping at night I used to think - Each worse day you endure is a day closer to your dream, get back up next day and fight till you get what you want. nothing can stop you.

And one more thing - the moment you achieve your dream, chose a new dream and start working hard for it. All the Best Brother.

1. There are no easy ways to make money, easy ones are inherently dishonest.
2. Even if you invent a new path to milk/earn/grow wealth, soon you'll have millions(people) on your tail to follow/compete/hinder your progress.

It's often the hardest path which gives us a sense of satisfaction. On an individual level take examples like swimming across a channel, climbing Mt Everest or K2, walking across north-pole, jumping from space, whistle-blowing against the Big-Brother, defying the world.

Take a stance, make a mark, stay undisputed.
Live long & prosper.

That's one biggest flaw with internet communities. Authenticity of on-line personalities, especially those who can hack into human emotions. I like them too for there is indeed strength in diversity/complexity.

Re: Dropped out of college to pursue my riding

First of all guys, this is not my sockpuppet ID and secondly who approved this thread?

I'm a dropout too, and I'm sure as hell struggling. I think I have made all the worst decisions one can possibly make in life. I suggest you go back to college or challenge Valentino Rossi to a biking duel and beat him, I'm sure Rossi will entertain your request, he has quite the humor, and a little bit of sense too.

Jokes aside, you would regret not pursuing your dream when your mid-life crisis starts and you'll regret your whole damn life if you do not focus on study now. Don't be offended but 15k kms is nothing, our @whymail sir has done couple of lakhs kilometers and still he admits he has more to learn. At first, you feel like George Bernard Shaw whom W.J. Long aptly describes as "who had really learned nothing and thought he knew everything worth knowing" but as you get older you'll realize that the things you cared about the most, your worldview, your love are no longer the same, then comes depression. Trust me, I'm telling you all these from first hand experience.

I had to drop out as I made some mistakes and I'd either have to face criminal charges (I have never claimed to be a good guy or someone who has never done anything wrong but I haven't done the thing they accused me of, somehow I knew that I have to face such a situation but I never thought it would come out like this) or drop out. Well, you can assume which choice did I make, I dropped out because that was the only reasonable thing to do.

Now fast forward to present time, things are going okay I think but I still feel the pain, I wish I could have finished my degree (I was the best student of college) and be a good son, husband, or a brother, but sadly, I failed at everything and developed some serious trust issues. I'm starting from scratch and going to a different college pursuing the same major now-a-days, things feel easy as long as I'm alone.

Forget all that, just pursue your studies and try to be happy, somehow I feel that you might be struggling, that's why I typed it all up and I have to admit your post triggered my memories and kinda felt like I need to let them out. Don't give up bro, I'm with you, ride hard and ride safe, if you feel upset, just go for a ride, you'll feel a lot better.

So guys, that is why I'm not really that normal and kind of messed up. I apologize for my behaviors and for messing with you guys earlier. @Dimpy I'm sorry for texting you, I am not gonna make any excuses for my actions. It was fun interacting with all of you and I learned a lot of things, especially from @sibun and @psr sir. I may leave this forum as I'm scared of my classmates finding me here, but I may come back with a different account from which I will only make only technical posts.

I hope you won't judge me, I'm not mentally very sound as I admitted earlier. Bye guys, this time I'm seriously leaving.

Re: Dropped out of college to pursue my riding

I am indeed surprised when i was quoted here and that too by Cleaner. I still cannot think how i am a inspiration to you cleaner. Many here says so that i am an inspiration. I cannot think how i am an inspiration.

@thread starter- I do not know what is going in your mind and what you are thinking right now. Nor i will tell many high profile things like many who have posted and i like those posts.

But the thing is that studying never ceases through out life. From the day we come to this earth to the day we leave this earth. Every day we study.

I have completed graduation and doing job. But still i am studying and doing my PG over distance, studying about automobiles studying here on xbhp, studying on magazines, studying on INTERNET.

The thing is that studying is not boring, the way we study is boring. We only study to secure marks, get a job and thats all. But studying should be from heart. Mind will follow suit.

I also used to tuition 11th and 12 th student physics. There were many students who used to come to me to get tutored. Fact is that i never used to teach at college nor i was topper in class. Not even in top ten in class. But the thing was that although who was topper in class didn't mattered but i remember when i was introduced to Physics in 7th standard(i was in ICSE in 10th and 12th), i was the topper in physics. No one could surpass me in physics.

The topper in our class always tried to beat me in physics as it was the only subject when he was behind any body. I once scored 95 and he scored 92. So he decided in next exam he will try his level best and beat me. The next exam he scored 96 and i scored 99. He never tried after that. Remember this is ICSE and they have the toughest syllabus in system.

But the real fact is after this. I never study physics. Then why did this happen. Its because physics has been always interesting to me. I always compare it with real life examples. The problems that we get so nervous i find out easy and efficient method of solving. Everybody say i have analytical mind and i do agree.

The students that came to study didn't go to other such popular teachers and coaching institute. The reason they gave was it was interesting with me to study as they do not know when the time is passing and also they remember everything easily. second thing is all teachers and coaching center make them mug up, but i was the person who made them to use their mind.

It was no wonder i joined mechanical engineering and i loved it. Not only me but sometimes the whole class we take help from me in difficult papers like Automobile engineering, Machine Dynamics.

But as some one has said i was not lucky enough to get a job in my preferred place. I joined a Bank and to tell u the truth life is simply boring. But hey i am not quitting as this is the means that will fund the expenses for my hobby, i.e bikes, doing P G, starting my own workshop in future. So you see i am not satisfied with the job, but doing it for the sake of funding my future proposal after some years.

And another thing i forgot to say, my other hobby is to workout hard. I love to GYM at morning and i have built a mini gym at my House.

Now you will think me i am mad, why i talked all about this. But these three things have solution to your problem.

First of all why i told you about Physics and mechanical engineering- Its because try to find which is your favorite and preferred subject or line. Then follow it as you will not feel monotonous and quit. Also anything that feels interesting makes us to do more of it, here it is studying. If you like to travel then set your line to travel and tourism.

Second the thing about Job- I told you about that as the Job will help you in funding your expenses for your hobby. After all a empty tank and empty stomach will not get you any where.

Third thing why the gym part- Its because we exercise to keep us fit and use our body for keeping it young.

Similarly brain is keeping itself fit by regular use of it. By studying everyday, you are working out your brain. This will make your brain stronger and tougher. I study everyday. While sleeping at night i read a book till i fall asleep. The book may be from automobiles, from history or even a Chandamama that children read. Everything that you read makes your brain to work out.

So throw out all these ideas of quitting and follow the steps that will make your life interesting and also move you towards your goal.

Cleaner,....There is a saying " What the caterpillar thought as death was the birth of a butterfly"....We all go through Metamorphosis , and nobody is born Genius. The difference between successful people and people who had not been , is that the Successful people Decided to get up after a fall and succeeded , while the others didn't. You can't be successful, knowledgeable, and wealthy without first Accepting yourself as what you are. No one in this world is perfect , it is a question of WHO makes a Repeated attempt to get success, and never gives up. You must learn to make failures as steps to success . Einstein , Beethoven , Thomas Edison, Benjamin Franklin, Bill Gates, Walt Disney, Richard Branson of Virgin Atlantic, Charles Dickens, and our own A.R.Rehman , all are High School dropouts..just to name a few.....All of them have become Famous because they trusted themselves and never stopped till they achieved greater heights in Life......In to-day's condition a Graduate/Engineering, degree is a must IF you are planning to go for a JOB....
I had never stepped inside a Engineering College, but I had been coaching final year students for the past 35 years ...and successfully too , since most of them got high grades ....Success is relative...

I think its very important to compare where you were and where you are now if you have come up even a bit you have progressed, comparing yourself with other people who are more successful than you are is wrong.

Excellent replies by fellow members.
I feel that the TS took an impulsive decision. Education is of paramount importance today. One may choose his area of interest though! Where I come from, commerce is ranked below science. That is you need to score >90% in 10th to be eligible for science post matriculation. But in Gujarat or Delhi, commerce demands high percentile. So, it's only the matter of perspectives and that depends upon the kind of opportunities in that demographic.
See, success is always relative. You can only measure your success against yourself. Not with others. All are different and worthy of being successful or better than the other person in some way or the other.
Muster the will to finish your education and reach your goals. I have learnt to learn from my body. I get hurt, it heals. It doesn't give up just because it pains. Fights through the pain and heals. I merely add to it with medicines.
Study to achieve that ultimate goal. Trust me, once you get the hang of the beauty in the experience, you'll never stop studying. In fact, we always learn. Till the last beat of one's heart.
Learn from young kids for motivation. They're always cheerful and in a mood to play despite the exhaustion. They're naughty yet so pure. Take a leaf out from them!

Damn, what a baba type post.

Sent from my phone. Kindly avoid it while riding.
