  • Adding 5th gear to my Fiero F2.

    Hi all,

Having had only 4 gears all these years on my Fiero F2 and every time missing the 5th cog, i wish to put a 5th cog. Can anybody inform me about whether this can be done(mine is 2003 model), the cost and where this can be done without effecting the bikes splendid control!

    Thanks,
    Ramki

At the same time, someone please tell me how to add a 6th cog in my P180 UG3 2007 model....

I have mechanics around me, but not much talented type. So, Pictures would be an additional help...

It seems like it's always screaming! It never relaxes even in 5th, say around 60-70... Thanks guys, in advance...

(They) made (modded) a Fierro to a twin-V Fierro, can't some gears be added to it? I would have wanted atleast 2 more and a reverse one (if possible)

Dude, "Impossible" word should not be in your dictionary ...

Can't an apache Gearbox be added? I heard that Apache Classic is based on Fiero only. and you have modded almost everything on the Fiero...

So, isn't it possible, albeit a bit costly?

I too was looking forward to adding the 5 speed of the Gladiator or Pulsar in my Discover. But every person that I talked to (and some of them were quite knowledgeable) admitted that it wasn't possible.
Some even suggested that it would be easier to fit the whole of Pulsar's engine block and everything to the Discover than it is to put a five gears on an engine running on 4 gears.

@ramki067: I also have an F2 just like yours, 2004 model, done 47K kms., all stock.
I have an R15, yet am maintaining this vehicle as I used to before I got the new one.
It is very good in its stock form. You can put in Iridium Spark plugs&synthetic oil to get better performance&feel.

could you explain why its not possible?

Joel, that word is not there in your dictionary. We can give you a week to comeup with a solution.

The Fiero crankcase needs to be 13mm wider inside to accomodate the extra cog, also the entire ratios have to be revised, which is not possible. The crankcase itself does not have that much metal.
Thats why TVS themselves casted a new and wider crankcase for the apache with a new shifter drum and freshly sorted gear ratios.
I know whats possible on this engine and whats not. Atleast not the gearbox.

@swingarm - You talking about the v-twin to me? Do u know who built it?

Don't worry I have seen it in Zen motors when I visited in January (you were busy with your drag race bike on ramp#2) . The Fierro was lying in the corner. I definitely know who built it, thats why I posted ....amazing!

if you have a bull or any other bike with a sperate gearbox. its possible..it can be done by replacing the entire gear box with a imported 6 speed one ...

@ramki067 - why dont you sprocket it??
